Do a Price Check!

A user in the forum just added this useful bit of advice for penny auction bidders so we thought we’d remind you. Thanks Murano!

So many sites have an MSRP listed that is way above what you could actual buy it for. There’s nothing wrong with an auction site listing the MSRP as they see fit. It’s really up to you to do the research to make sure that’s a fair price.

Here are some examples:

Sony BRAVIA DAV-HDX285 5.1-Channel Theater System
Listed for $299 on one site
Sold on Amazon.com for $232 (free shipping)

Necklace 76.50ctw(cz) Crafted in 14K/925 Gold plated Silver
Listed for $659 on an auction site
Sold on eBay for $89

Garmin nüvi 760
Listed for $399 on an auction site
Sold on Amazon.com for $190 (free shipping)

Sony 40″ Class Bravia Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV
Listed for $1399 on an auction site
Sold on Walmart.com for $798

So which items are the most overprice?

It seems like jewelry, and TVs. So make sure you do a simple Google search.

The ones that are clearly the most reflective of actual value are gift cards. A $50 gift card is exactly $50!
