BidRivals

Has anyone tried the penny auction site BidRivals.com? BidRivals UK

BidRivals displays a “Fair Auction Guarantee” on their homepage which reads:

“With our Fair Auction Guarantee you can be sure that we do not use any systems that automatically bid on our auctions (Autobids). We also guarantee that no employees of Bidrivals or their family members are allowed to bid on the auctions.

The Fair Auction Guarantee is our way of showing our users what we stand for, and is an important part of our core values. Bidrivals auctions are for the benefit of our members, and only members can bid on our products.'”

BidRivals operates out of Malta and its server is in Finland, bidding is open to many countries including the US.

How does BidRivals match up with other penny auctions?

With an Alexa ranking of 11,873 and 84,200 daily page views (WebsiteOutlook.com), BidRivals is quite popular.

It appears that BidRivals has much more traffic than Zoozle, BidRodeo and a few thousand more visitors than RockyBid.

While we’re looking at traffic stats, could these two be the top penny auction rivals?

BidCactus has once again beat Swoopo with 190,529 more visitors just in September. Wow!

Back to BidRivals,  BidRivals has a TV commercial, which depicts customers in a café about to drink their coffee and the cup disappears only to find that an Eskimo, with a smirk, drinks a cup of coffee or hot cocoa? 🙂

And it looks like there must really be rivals on BidRivals.
One iPod Touch auction on BidRivals sold after 6,738 bids were placed!

I've used this site and I think it's a scam. I wasted £100 on bids and tried to go for a similar iPod touch. I bid and bid, and it eventually ended to someone who hadn't been bidding at all throughout the entire auction.

I also find it strange that they don't have any search listing on Google?

    Google their name, it's weird.

Hi, I´m brazilian and I saw in this site a link to a brazilian version (http://www.bidrivals.com/br/), and I think it´s a SCAM. I didn´t find any link to this site (brazilian version) on google. The biggest social network in Brazil is Orkut, and I didn´t find any information about this site in there. However, how that they sold a 50 bids pack for R$20,30 (676 bids – this auction increases 0,03)? Zero comercials, zero links on google? Magic?

This site is legit. This is my debut site in the world of Penny Auction.

I won 4 auctions till now & hoping to win some more.

There customer service is really good. Every 10 minutes one new auction goes live.

Almost 150 auctions go live every day.

Smartbidder what is your user name at Bidrivals.com so we check when you won these 4 Auctions? To win 4 Auctions on Bidrivals is amazing considering you did it on your debut and no doubt you made a killing in winning as well.

The customer service is totally inadequate as it is based in Malta and they are very restricted in the answers they can give but they are very polite in being of very little use.

All I can really say is that 'Smartbidder' and 'you are dumb' must have been very lucky indeed to win.

Jian is correct it is like a lottery no system whatsoever could bring about continuous winnings on this site as there are far too many variables at play also people from all over the world can bid and there is always the possibility that there are shill bidders.

DON’T Try this site…it’s a total scam… You bid and bid and bid and bid… You assign a bidding agent, who you think is working in your best interest and they bid your money away in seconds, almost like a computer is actually doing the bidding and not a person.

You are unhappy with the way things work TO BAD because they will not refund any of your bids purchased.

Any negative items written about this company they call it “black propaganda”

Safe your money and go with EBay, a trusted and reliable auction. Any prob’s they help to resolve it and credit your account.

I’m reporting them to the Feds

I confirm that is TOTAL SCAM.

I created 20 account and for each I bought 71 bid.

I played for "wii sport resort" 39,00 Euro Value.

Every time an account end the 71 bid I started with the next. The account that stop bidding, choose the option "Buy Now" so I bought the object paying only the delivery. 20 account for 71 bid means that my auction is ended over 32 Euros and I don't won because there was always an agent that redraw any time. I finish my experience with 20 copy of Wii Sport Resort deliveried at my home in abount 2 week and reselled by ebay.

This Experiment cost to me 150 € but I demostrate matemathically that is impossible to win on this site.

I brought 50 bids and put them all on the one item with bid agent and there was only me and one other bid agent bidding and as soon as I ran out of bids another bid agent started bidding on the item, which is a bit of a coincidence as how did they know I ran out of bids?. And if you look at almost every auction on any day (day or night)its always the same people bidding and winning so either these people have pretty fu**ed up lives or its the bidrivals scammers that are rigging these items. I know which I think it is!!!!

SO UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY AND WASTE YOUR TIME I SUGGEST YOU STEER WELL CLEAR OF THIS OR ANY OTHER SITE LIKE THIS

All the people who say this site is a scam are just bitter after losing all their money. If you bought 50 lottery tickets and didn't win anything would you then call it a scam? No is the answer. With this type of auction you can't just go in and throw your money around and expect to win. I've won 12 times and not because I'm lucky (well sometimes of course) but because I study the pattern of bidders. If, for example, you see somebody bidding on multiple items, this would indicate to me that they have plenty of bids to play around with, so I'd steer clear of bidding against this person especially if I have a limited amount bids. Realistically you won't win with 50 bids anyway. Also take the iPhone 3gs, how desirable is this product?-bottom line is that every man and his dog wants this so your chances of winning are extremely slim (I dont bid on iPhones or Macbooks-too much competition). Finally, check out closed auctions of items you'd like to win-is there a pattern in the average price they go for, how many bids does the winner place (in general it'll be a lot more than you think), and how long did the auction last, is bidding easier whilst most people are at work? etc etc etc. You're never guaranteed to win but you can certainly increase your chances but putting in a little ground work first, or you can throw your money at an item and then whinge thats it obviously a scam!!!

    Happy Bidding hehe

"smartbidder" , you are so full of crap. Don't dare spout that you've won 4 auctions, because you are obviously in the pocket of this scam site and "Craig" – you just a trolling asshole with the benefit of everyone else's hindsight so STFU. Bidrivals tricks trusting customers by presenting itself as a legitimate auction site, hiding any pitfalls and huge profits it makes and thrusting so-called benefits like saying crap like "… bidrivals loses $48.76" if an item gets last-bidded at "less" than the full value and other tricks. They make no mention of the dozens that hopeful bidders that lost all their money in non-refundable bids. With Google mail won't mark them as spam because bidrivals pays them in advertising fees.

Sign me up to a mass law suit against these pricks and trollers – you have nothing to say so fuck off

Most of these sites are rip offs if you go on there and bid like crazy because chances are your going to eventually lose the auction 99% of the time.

At least bid rivals lets you use the money you lost in the bidding to put towards the "buy now" price of the item.

BidRivals is the perfect place to go if you planned on buying the item anyway….you might get a super deal and save a ton of money and at worst your going to pay the regular price for the item that you planned on purchasing anyway.

If your going on ANY of these penny auction sites for items u werent really in the market for…your gonna lose big $$$

To those that say that this site is legitimate and that the people who complain are losers who just lost money, let me prove to you that BidRivals is a scam.

    http://www.undergroundgamers.net/bidrivals.jpg

I took this screenshot while having three of BidRivals many BidRivals websites open. Namely, I had the US, the UK and the AU websites all up at the same time.

As you can see these are three separate and independently run websites. If you don't believe me just register on one (it's free to register) and then try to log in on another. I registered on the US website and it gives me an invalid username and/or password error when I tried both the UK and the AU websites. So that proves that they're different websites.

As you can also see all three of these TVs are a different model (32XBR9, LA37B530, and LE37B530). Do you really think that it's a coincidence that they have the exact same unique username having a bid battle between these three items? Especially since these are three seperate, independent websites? The odds of this being a coincidence are astronomically high. If you believe that you probably still believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Clause. This is a scam flat out.

Swoopo has a policy that they can use different models of the same item type in the different countries that they are open to, I think this could be the same for BidRivals. Keep posting about your experiences and join our forum & enter the giveaway before 3/1/10! Thanks

Adam, youve got it all wrong. There's different stock for each country. So every item you see is being bid on GLOBALLY, but the models change from country to country so the people in Aus know theyre bidding for a Sony Plasma TV for eg but the people in US might be bidding for a Panasonic or something.

I don't exactly say that bidrivals is a scam. I'll just quote the same post which I've posted in other forum.

    hey all..

First of, I'm from India and english is not my main language so please don't go Grammar Nazi on me.

The only reason why I've registered here and am posting this is because yesterday I've won a camera on bidrivals and this is the only with most active discussion going-on on bidrivals . I've started bidding on bidrivals because it provides an option to buy the item once the auction ends (which no other penny auction site does) and most of the items are priced almost near to the local prices. So, even if you lose the auction, you can just buy the item by paying the rest of the amount. The way I see it, bid over here if you really want to buy an item and if it's priced same as your local dealer price.

Now, let me talk some statistics…I'll put figures in my local currecny i.e. rupees and paise (1 rupee=100paise)

    Cost of 1 bid=30 rupees

and when you bid one time, the price increases by 60 paise.

So, effectively if the price of the item gets increased by 1 rupee the company actually earned 50 rupees.

Now, let's take the auctions going on currently..there's a macbook pro 13" that's currently priced at 2894rupees. Which means the company has already earned 14470 rupees which is already twice the actual cost of macbook. But remember that the entire price is not being paid by a single user. Infact, there is a rule on bidrivals which says that if you bid for an item for more than the actual price, you could just own it.

I don't know if this is legal or not or if there are any bots playing dirty or not, but if you really want to buy an item and if the price quoted on the site is close to your local price go for it coz chances are that you may end up winning the auction and pay only about half the price or if you lose, just pay the rest of the money and buy it.

I'll update over here in few days with the status of shipment of the item…

    cheers..

to be honest i thought bidrivals are scammers..but the plain truth is its just like a gamble like playing poker machine, because you wanna win some money you place some bets ,sometimes its your lucky day sometimes its just a badluck. The verry first time i used Bidrivals i though whooa im loosing too much money im so angry i bought some bids then bid it to the product then lost then buy again and again, coz i have the feeling that oh im gonna win it. Then i learn my lesson, just try to buy bids that you can afford,be patient. Just last night I won 500 worth of bids but in a matter of 3 hours i lost it coz of bidders just keep adding up. My mistakes is i bid 3 different items which is for i think a no no. Just focus to what u really want stay there. I did just 30 minutes ago I bought 180 dollars of bids which u can get for 200 bids. I used half of it to put in another 500 bids, well i really wanna win something not just bids I wanna tv laptop or iphone.. Unfortunately you I cant bid anymore because i just reached my limit..maximum 2 bids for 1 day..

So ah bottom line is its not a scam its just a gamble, If you dont wanna gamble its not the best site for you. I dont really know everything about their company but i tell you guys its not a scam. It shouldnt be on internet for long if it is. Do some research before screaming: "ITS A SCAM"…

Just a little bit of warning though..Its addictive..You there to bid and win..Because u wanna win that thing you will be seing yourself buying more bids..

But I am aware of those people who really scams people thru online and e-mails..try to search it, google it and youll find out..Bidrival is not a scam..its just like a bank,a business..they there to make money. But i bet people who says its a scam because they didnt win anything, again its a gamble u lose but one day maybe you'll win and you'll say oh yeah its not a scam i just won so its not a scam …Its a business ..

    Thank you

Ok to all the bidrivals reps that are in here commenting, fuck you.

I havent bothered registering but its obvious the site is a scam. The money isnt made in selling the items, its made in the bidding, so duhhh its in bidrivals best interests to extend the bidding process for as long as possible. They do this through automated bids. When people say bidrivals are making a killing they arent since 95% of the 'bids' on all items are performed with their own software to artificially lengthen the auctions; thus they dont receive revenue. They still make money, but not as much as people think.

Anyway i cant wait until the people behind bidrivals are financially crippled, affecting not only themselves, but their families and personal lives as well. Would be funny as fuck :).

    It is a huge scam.
If each bid is 2 cents worth it will take 50 bids to reach 1 dollar
If each bid (2 cents) costs e.g. 70cents means for every 50 bids ($1) on the item it has cost you $35.
    So if an item (normal cost $1000) sells e.g. $250 (12,500 bids) @ 70 cents each = $8750 (250.00/.02 x .70=$8750) a huge profit to bidrivals.
Nobody wins- the winner might have the item @ a huge cost & the losing bidders will have lost their money.
I have asked them about this & of course get the usual run around.
Even their advertised buy now prices are no lower & sometimes higher than what can be bought anywhere.
If you’re going to bid do that math & research the price of the item.
As the saying goes “if it looks too good to be true it probably is”

Is essentially a Lottery setup under the guise of being an Auction site plain and simple.

I would question the legality of their advertising methods because claiming to lose money on the RRP is very missleading. If you do the math they are making crazy profits from the bids themselves and not from the sale of the product so no matter what the product sells for they are already making a profit.

Anyone jumping straight in and then crying scam after dropping $50 have no-one to blame but themselves. No matter how good something looks aways do your homework, and then weigh up the facts. Often the cost is far greater than any possible gain you might get.

DONT JUST ASSUME ITS BAD…… IF U TAKE TIME AND LEARN IT INSIDE OUT YOU CAN LEARN TRICKS AND WIN WITH REALTIVE EASE… ITS MORE PREDICTABLE THAN A GAME AT A CASINO SO U HAVE AN ADVANTAGE…. Hahahahahahahaha the 95% guy he just makes up figures as though they are backed by an investigation.

The guy who set up 21 accounts with 71 bids in each i dont see how that mathematically proves anything except that you are an absolute retard.

The person who thought that he was assigning an actual human agent to strategically place bids for him you must be joking……and to the guy who put 50 bids on the bid agent you would notice that each time the bid agent places your bid at 4 seconds so when it went below four seconds the next party would have realised your bidagent has run out and decided that's a good time to start their own bidagent because then they wouldn't be wasting bids in a war that is going on between you and the other guy.

The guy who thought he proved it wrong with the screen shots let me show you: a)the auctions are worldwide, you are bidding on what you see but because companies like sony release slightly different products for different countries the serial number my be different, it depends on the availability of a product in each country

b)you can not log in to an australian page if you have a new zealand page because if you did by accident and then won on the australian page they expect you to be in australia and it will fuck their system up, but you still are bidding against people worldwide(possibly for slightly different products to them) that is why you saw the same names on the auctions for each bidrival country site you went to

c)notice on your screenshots if you convert the pounds to US dollars and US dollars to AUD you will get the same amount, this is because it finished at that price worldwide.

Edmund you seem to have been fucked by an error in their supply line. Which is understandable because I don't think they have supply depots in each country they just have contact with suppliers and get them to dispatch the orders, though I could be wrong about this.

And the false advertising part it is misleading but not incorrect as they are saying if you won and bought it for this price we would lose this much on the sale to you they are not required to factor in the amount of money they make from all the other people that bid on the auction and fail.

It is right that if you are not planning to buy the item anyway you should not bid, although you still could get lucky. If you were planning to buy the item anyway you will either end up buying it for a price which is usually just above market price or you will get lucky and win the auction and get it for a cheap price.

To all the people who say it is not a scam you are absolutely right, it is a complex and highly enticing model though. Nobody here works for bidrivals. Know that if they were to assign workers to scour forums convincing people their site is legitimate they would use someone like me who understands the system completely and can explain it clearly without waffling and sounding like an idiot like 95%(calculated) of the people on this forum. My advice is read their FAQs they let you know what is going on in there, any questions just check with the live help they are good.

    Hi All,
This site is legit, even if you dont win at an auction you can still get the money you spent on your bids back as a discount if you purchase the product. So the way it stands is simple. You either get the product at an incredible discounted rate or at worst you get your bids back as a discount when you but the product at standard internet retail prices.
So in reality if you really wanted the product then you cant really lose.

Contact me if you need a better explanation or if you have any pending issues on keith@bidrivals.com or via our FB page.

    Thank you
    Keith

    Hi

I have used this site and won some auction but i spent much more money than i got back in goods. (spent £600 on bids and £100 for items won and recieved £400 of goods)
    1) Not all of their auctions have a buy it now – watch out or you lose
    2) I won a Audi TT Remote control car valued at £49, when it arrived their was a dispatch note included saying it was £17.99, i had spent £27 bids then still had to pay £6.50 + £4 postage. When i contacted them through live help i was told that was the cost to them, i then found the same car on amazon for £10.80. I also won a speaker for 8p + £8 postage only to find amazon sell the speaker for 8.99 with free super saver postage. (is this what they call standard internet prices?)

I also lost £100 of bids going for a living colours lamp, so i purchased it with my losing bids, they sent me a european version with 2 pin plug for the uk, they did include an adaptor for it but the adaptor wasn’t designed to fit the type of plug on the lamp.

I have noticed over the last 3 weeks that around 8 people dominate the site and win most of the expensive items.

Delivery takes approx 2 weeks after winning. The best win i had was an ipod shuffle for £22 inc postage.

BIDRIVALS Weird stuff going on ! First of all, Don’t you notice that all we can actually win is BIDS ! And over the good stuff, TV- IPAD -PS3 etc there’s ALWAYS ALWAYS BOT…AUTOBIDDERS, come on, on beezid for exemple we sure see them, they come and go, but at Bidrivals, they spend more that the actual retail ??? Saw a user from the beginning till the end, bidding tripple the value ?
So after all Regular user only can win BIDS PACK and AMAZON CARD…NONE of those that win pack bet on those Item that we see autobids. Doesn’t make sense that we don’t see those user getting BIDSPACK ? But I see you can buy 5000 bids, but still it’s pretty weird !

If you think logically, u can see why bidrival-operated autobidders are totally necessary. think abt a macbook air retailed at $1899 NZD. Every genuine bidder knows that the price would go above $80, or even $100 (according to the history of similar items), why would ANYONE start bidding below that price? If you start bidding before $80, say at $20, it’ll be a total waste of your $0.9 because you knew that the with or without your bid, the price would go over $80. Why not save your bid until $80 or higher? In this case, the auction would never take off after the 1% of the buynow price is reached, as there will be no bidder. People might argue that if there’s only 4 seconds left and the price is still sitting at 1% of buynow price, everyone would start bidding. That’s totally true. But it’ll happen only at the last minute. So logically all auctions should be sitting at $1 or $2 until the last minute, EXCEPT the site owner, because he’s worry that the macbook air will be sold at $19. So people stop arguing abt the existent of fake-bidders, as we all know it definitely exists.

IT’s a SCAM…deffinitely. I’ve put in bids right at the very last second when it’s GOING…. it registers my bid then another bidder gets it and it closes. I’ve done this several times and I’ve complained. they gave me 10 bonus bids and told me they checked and found no discrepancies…Of COURSE not! They take your money…that’s it.
