UPDATE: 11-12-2009, StuffBuff is in Private Beta & We’ve released info on StuffBuff’s entertainment shopping Blink Auctions. Read more here.

Michael Langer recently contacted us to introduce his new social eCommerce auction site StuffBuff.com StuffBuff has not yet launched, but they’re so cool that TechCrunch50 chose them out of thousands of startups to attend the TechCrunch50 2009 Conference.

So what is StuffBuff?

“Well, If a young and sexy twitter; got together with an older and more established eBay, then StuffBuff is their love child. We blend  real time technology and social interaction with adrenalin fueled auctions. StuffBuff makes it easy for sellers to catalog all of your stuff using cool tools like webcam barcode scanning, image recognition, and mobile tools so that your stuff is ready to sell with a click.”

Live haggle chat

Live Haggle

StuffBuff was chosen by PayPal to participate in early development of their new adaptive payment system which will not even be available to developers until next year. With this system StuffBuff created “Live Haggle.” Live Haggle is an auction that takes place entirely in a chatroom. Auctions can be as short as 60 seconds or as long as three hours. Bidders can interact with the seller and each other with questions and comments but when a dollar figure is entered, that becomes a commited bid.  All users can see who the current high bidder is, and how much time is left.

You are probably wondering why you’re reading about a new eCommerce shopping platform on Penny Auction Watch. StuffBuff wanted us to be to the first to let you know that they will have an entertainment shopping option that will have all the addictiveness and fun of Swoopo with the simplicity of buy it now.

StuffBuff revealed some additional viral secrets that we will save for a later post.

You can sign up for a private beta invite on http://www.stuffbuff.com.

I like the chat idea and social features. What happen when they use social/chat in a bad ways like, team up, agree not to bid against each other and allow Bill to win it cheap because it’s bill turn to get cheap etc.

What prevents anyone from just bidding high to screw around with it all? Just to put the price high with no intention of buying.
