Penny Auction Watch: What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?
BidTent: It looked like a cool concept to at least try out. I figured we could make some money, provide some entertainment and have fun! Plus, my background is in IT so I knew I would have to spend the extra cash to pay someone to get the site up and running. One other partner has experience in databases and the other in customer service. It is a perfect match for a site like this.
Penny Auction Watch: When will you open?
BidTent:Â We are open now. Sign up if you would like.
Penny Auction Watch: What kind of items do you have lined up? Will your auctions run on a schedule?
BidTent: So far, we have just a few items as we have just opened. Our headliner item right now is the $1000 Visa Gift card. The rest of the fare is typical (iPods, etc). Our auctions will run on a schedule with longer auctions at night.
Penny Auction Watch: What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction?
BidTent:Â The timer will increment 30 seconds and this does not vary by auction at this current time.
Penny Auction Watch: How much are your bids? Â -Are bids refundable?
BidTent: Bids are $0.75/ea (USD). Bids are only returnable in the case of:
- Product information incorrect and winner does not want item
- Some sort of fraud (stolen CC used to purchase bids, etc.)
- Site issues (DDoS attack, data center failure, etc.)
- For some reason product is unavailable.
By returnable we mean they will be credited to the user’s account. Once you buy the bids they are non-refundable. Only bids placed on affected auctions will be returned.
Penny Auction Watch: What are your shipping costs?
BidTent: They are currently at a flat rate of $5.00. We may change this, however.
Penny Auction Watch: Are there win limits, limits /household?
BidTent:Â None at this time. Only 1 account per household.
Penny Auction Watch: Is there a story behind the name/theme?
BidTent: Yes. It was available and didn’t sound *too* cheesy.

BidTent: Yes. Your users will be well aware that this is a clone software (telebid script). We are not using those stupid auto bidders where the company bids on its own stuff to inflate the price and keep the auction going. The only auto bidders allowed are ones placed by users (Bid Butler).
