Penny Auction Watch: What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?
I watched and shopped some of the other sites and was looking for a new endeavor.
Penny Auction Watch: How long have you been open?
We formed our LLC on September 29, 2009. We had the site up and down for testing but not to bidders for most of October 2009. We had changes made to our programming (still ongoing) and first opened for bidding in November 2009. Since that time we have been down for about one week while we changed servers to accommodate our customers.
Penny Auction Watch: What kind of items do you offer/ have lined up? Do your auctions run on a schedule?
We want to offer electronics, trips, concerts, sporting events and other higher end items; however we have been trying to grow our customer base. Right now we are offering Bid Bandit Bucks (cash transferred to PayPal), gift cards and smaller electronics. Our customer base will determine what we are able to offer in the future.
We try to run a featured auction ending at 9:30 pm CST and a larger bid package within an hour prior to that auction. We have currently cut back on our day and late night auctions because we cannot afford to give away gift cards for nothing. We will get back in to the other times as our users request it and our users support it.
Penny Auction Watch: What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction?
We are currently using a 15 second addition to the timer for each bid. We tried other times but have found our users like this best. We are currently working on having our programming changed so that no more than 2 minutes is ever added to the clock regardless of the number of bids entered.
Penny Auction Watch: How much are your bids?
Our bids are $0.60 but we currently are offering bid packages at $0.50. We run various bid package specials depending on circumstances.
Penny Auction Watch: What are your shipping costs? How long does it usually take for users to receive their items?
Our shipping costs vary depending on whether we are doing our own shipping or if, for instance we can get discount shipping from Amazon or Overstock. We are attempting to have physical items delivered to our customers within 10 business days. If our client selects a shipping option that converts the item to cash we attempt to fulfill within 48 hours, more often less.
Penny Auction Watch: What states/countries are you open to?
Physical items will be shipped within the lower 48 US states and we will offer them to Hawaii, Alaska and Canada if the member is willing to pay for the additional freight. We will transfer Amazon gift cards or Bid Bandit Bucks wherever allowed by law, since these are electronic transactions.
Penny Auction Watch: What is your policy for bid refunds?
We will refund bids purchased for any reason, sometimes the members doesn’t like the site and sometimes the site cannot please the member. Purchased bids are consumed first by the members, we cannot refund bids that are won or given as promotions.
Penny Auction Watch: Are they win limits, limits /household?
We currently allow up to three accounts per household/IP address. There is an 8 win limit per account per 30 days. We have not enforced these limits during our roll out and will give our members at least 48 notice prior to our enforcing this limit.
We have a 4 win limit per 24 hour period. This is automated and will not allow you to bid until or unless you have a slot open. If you are the leading bidder on an item you are considered a “winner” by the system; your slot will re-open when there is a higher bidder.
Penny Auction Watch: Is there a story behind the name/theme?
Not really, it just seemed that a lot of these deals are a steal. We therefore tried to incorporate in “bids” and “steal the deal” ultimately arriving at Bid Bandit Auctions with a catch phrase of Steal the Next Great Deal.

We are aware that customer service is vital to this business. We will strive to meet our obligations to members and we rely on our members to help us. Our members feedback is important and this site and our business remain a work in progress.
