Interview with New Penny Auction FooFaRa.com

Brand new penny auction site FooFaRa.com‘s first auctions end on Friday, Feb. 5th. They were kind enough to extend a special promo code exclusive to our readers: Enter the code PAW3BIDS upon registration for a total of 6 free bids (in addition to the 3 all users receive).

Penny Auction Watch: What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?

FooFaRa.com: After finding other penny auction sites and getting totally entranced watching people bid on the auctions, it became clear to me that instead of watching someone else’s site for endless hours I should invest that time into a site of my own.  That way I wouldn’t have to feel bad wasting hours watching people bid and get great deals on auctions.  Also, I have to be honest; the potential for great income from this site is also very attractive.

Penny Auction Watch: How long have you been open?

FooFaRa.com: We are just opening now.  After extensive testing with some select PAW members and friends, thank you, we have decided we are ready to go live with our site.  Our first auctions will be ending this Friday evening, Feb 5th.

Penny Auction Watch: What kind of items do you have lined up?  Do your auctions run on a schedule?

FooFaRa.com: We plan on offering a diverse line up of products.  We are starting with smaller electronics, gift cards, small appliances, games, jewelry… and then we’ll work our way up into bigger and better items like TVs, laptops, vacations, maybe even cars.

We will be running auctions every day and are currently targeting between 6pm-10pm CST for our ending times.  The number and duration of auctions will increase as our user base increases.

Penny Auction Watch: What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction?

FooFaRa.com: We have three different time increments, 10, 15, and 20 seconds.  We try to vary the timer on the auctions to keep it fun and exciting.  We will always display the clock on the product page to show you what the time increment is for that particular auction.  We do throw in one gotcha though, and that is seen when someone places a bid – the time can go up or down!  This means you may take away just enough time from your competitors to win it if they aren’t watching.  If a bid is placed when the clock is below the timer increment for the auction the clock will reset to the timer increment.

We do also have our Bid Boss that will place the bids for you.  To keep things fair, we put some limitations on the Bid Boss:

You may book more than one Bid Boss per auction; however you can only have one active at a time. You will have to wait until the current Bid Boss is done to place another one, or delete the current one to alter your needs.

A Maximum of 50 bids per Bid Boss can be booked.

If 2 or more Bid Bosses are set for a similar price range, the maximum time that will be added to the clock is 1 minute.  That way other bidders don’t have to wait forever to get back into the auction.

Also, to keep things interesting, the Bid Boss places your bids at a random time in the last 2 to 20 seconds of an auction!

Penny Auction Watch: That’s neat, you’re the first penny auction that we’ve seen to use the term Bid Boss 🙂

How much do your bids cost?

FooFaRa.com: Our bids are $0.60 per bid and some of the large packs include free bids.

We have the following bid packs available:

25 Bids : $15.00

50 Bids : $30.00

75 Bids : $45.00 plus 5 free bids

100 Bids : $60.00 plus 10 free bids

200 Bids : $120.00 plus 25 free bids

500 Bids : $300.00 plus 100 free bids

You receive 3 free bids upon registration so that you can try out our site for free.  You will also receive more bids for referring friends, up to 50 bids!

Our auctions also vary in bid increment.  Auctions can have 1, 3, 7, or 13 cent bid increments.

Penny Auction Watch: What are your shipping costs? How long does it usually take for users to receive their items?

FooFaRa.com: Currently we offer either shipping of $5 or free shipping depending on the item.  As the site grows we intend to reduce shipping even further and if possible have all the auctions come with free shipping.

We do our best to get the products shipped the same or following day so users should expect to see their items in 5 to 10 days.

Penny Auction Watch: What states/countries are you open to?

FooFaRa.com: We currently operate in the United States only.  We provide service to all 50 states, however shipping to Hawaii and Alaska may be a bit higher depending on the item.

Penny Auction Watch: What is your policy for bid refunds?

FooFaRa.com: We have a strict no refund policy on placed bids.  We will, however, credit bids back to the users account if there is a system issue with the site on our side.  We are also willing to refund any unused bids.

Penny Auction Watch: Are there any win limits, limits /household?

FooFaRa.com: Currently we have a win limit of 7 items per 14 day period.  We have a limit of two accounts per household.

Penny Auction Watch: Is there a story behind the name/theme?

FooFaRa.com: Yes there is.  Four of us were sitting around one night, trying to come up with a fun name for our new site.  We had been looking everywhere and suddenly came across the word foofaraw.  We looked up the domain and found that foofara.com wasn’t used so we snagged it, along with 3 or 4 others.  We decided on the name FooFaRa based on the definition of the word and provide the following on our site as an explanation of the name:

The name comes from a little known word, “foofaraw”, which has origins in both the Spanish and French languages.

It is defined as 1) excessive or flashy ornamentation (which will refer to the amazing deals you will receive on all the latest and greatest items) and 2) a fuss over a trifling matter (which will refer to the massive amounts of fun and excitement that will be had as you battle and bid to win your chosen prize).

What more inspiration could we ask for?

Penny Auction Watch: Is there anything else you’d like to tell Penny Auction Watch readers?

FooFaRa.com: We want to provide great auction experience and the opportunity to win great items for great prices.  We also want to provide a way to make everyone a winner.  Our way of doing this is in the form of Rewards.  For each bid you buy, you will receive the same amount in reward points.  For every auction you participate in, you will receive reward points.  Every day that you log in to our site, you will receive a reward point.  Visit the Reward Store to see what you can claim with your reward points.  We will keep changing these rewards to offer a variety to our users.

Thank you!

That’s why online pharmacies is becoming more pop over the last years. Well-known are remedies which are used to reduce inflammation caused by inflammation of the skeletal muscle etc. There were only few examples. Did somebody tell you about canadian generic Viagra? Maybe you already know about the matter. Sexual disfunction can be a result of a physical condition. Even when it has a physical reason, psychological problems can make the disorder worse. Sex drive problems are so commonly a product of how you feel that there is something to that “headache” saying after all.

How come you guys never allow me to post on any of your blog posts? Is there a conspiracy here? I never use profanity, are you afraid that people might check out my site? …Seems like you guys are working very close with penny auctions to promote their product, rather than help the bidder. Penny Auction Secret, reveals a lot, which actually helps educate the bidder.

      Hello Alex,

I just wanted to let you know that I just found this post in our spam queue, I will see if I find any more from you. Are you posting via a proxy? No conspiracy here at all, we give many sites a neutral starting point by posting about them here, a lot of our readers enjoy learning about new auction sites, then we test them and observe and see what we can find out. We will post news/promotions for sites that the PAW community has tested and feels they are legitimate. We're also here to help educate the bidder.

      Thanks

Looks like a fun site… however, the thing that makes me nervous about trying it out is they have a $299 Playstation 3 as one of the first 5 items up for bids on the site. Normally, when sites start out, they do $10, $15, $20 gift cards and small items until their user base grows. Who knows… maybe I will give it a shot. I like the reasonable bid package prices.

This site completely copies Wavee, which is a better version of FooFaRa
