bids4cheap penny auctionHave you tried Bids4Cheap.com? Last month we interviewed this newly opened penny auction  to find out what got the site started and what the site offers. So far a few PAW forum members have received items from Bids4Cheap.

What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?

Well I run a local computer company, and also we do electronic distribution. So I was looking for a way to get some higher end items at a lower rate, and came across swoopo.com.  I started doing my research, and preparing a strategy to start bidding, when it suddenly hit me: Why can’t I do this, at a much cheaper rate? Well the answer to that question is www.bids4cheap.com.

  • Launch Date: 4-13-2010
  • Items: Currently we offer gift cards, Netflix subscriptions, new release movies, new release video games, and cash. We also have a gift card substitution program, where you can switch out the card for any card of your choice.  Eventually we will host $50-200 gift cards and cash, and higher end Tvs, laptops and gaming consoles.
  • Timer Increments between bid: Right now our timer increments are set at 10 seconds. We are working to put in a new timer cap, of 1 minute, when we do this the increments will raise to 15 seconds, but once it hits 1 minute, it will not raise anymore.
  • Bid Cost: $0.30/bid, 10 free bids upon sign up.
  • Shipping Costs: Free within the US.  Items typically ship out within 1 to 2 business days of auction end, so total shipping time would be around 3-5 business days.
  • Open to bidders in: The United States and any country that the user is willing to pay the shipping charges to.
  • Bid Refund Policy: We will refund any unused bids if a user is not happy, also if a user loses an item due to site error, we will work with them to correct that issue.
  • Win Limits: 1 user per IP. Also there is a 1 win limit per 24 hours, We are working to change the win limit so that it simply resets at midnight, as for now you have to wait 24 hours after the auction you won ends.

Your Customer Service is TOP NOTCH! That was absolutely the fastest shipping EVER! “

Do not like this auction site. Scammers. I big on I Pads. Won for 20cents. They refused to ship saying there was a glitch in system. Then 3 days later I won 5 $100.00 gift cards from Best Buy , they refused to ship again, saying glitch. Is this the same glitch they fixed 3 days before. Beware. Your wasting your time and money on this web site.

Update: Terri was commenting on backyardbidder and not bids4cheap… see the URL she posted (hover over her name) when commenting – she was also just in the news.
