Penny auction QuiBids.com has just rolled out QLive, an interactive map that allows users to see where all participants in an auction are bidding from.
QLive Details:
“There are two different colors of flags that will appear on this map. The red flags denote the current winner of the auction, the yellow flags show all the past bids that have been placed.
If you do not wish to view this map you may select the ‘Hide’ button on the right side of the page. To switch it back so that you may view it again you may select ‘Show’. In order to hide your location, you can do this by going to My QuiBids and selecting the ‘My Information’ tab and clicking ‘Yes’ next ‘Hide My Location’. If you choose to do this, you will still show up on the map, however, your point of location will be shown in the ‘Bermuda Triangle’ rather than your actual location.
Please note that this map is not 100% accurate. For example, if you live in San Diego, there may be times that the map could show you in Nevada rather than California. Enjoy the excitement!”

Clever idea, but if the point is to convince the users that everyone is a legit bidder and not a bot, there is still a lot of room for skepticism. Meaning, their bots could still lead to a foreign country or the "Bermuda Triangle". Not saying Quibids has bots or anything, but otherwise not bad of a feature.
Thanks for this!
I can't believe that they are actually asking in the open for this.
Good thing pennyauctionwatch.com is checking it out for us!
Well.. here is an interesting thing…On their website they say bidding is only available in the 50 states, Washington D.C. and the District of Columbia. However, if you look closely at high value items (over $50), you will see bidders bidding heavily from the Atlantic Ocean…. I am not kidding..check it out….
