How the newest member of the PAW Hall of Shame got there: MyLuckyBids.net/.com
Remember a few months ago we wrote about penny auction site MyLuckyBids.com/.net and pointed out that the script they were using, PHPPennyAuction script allowed for bot bidders?” Apparently they’re a bit biased towards their own site and claim that they are the “safest penny auction online.”
Well, shortly afterwards we received an e-mail from MyLuckyBids declaring that they did not use bots:
Well, today a forum member sent us the following link to All for Freelancers, which shows that someone who said their site was MyLuckyBids had requested a script fix two months prior and in the request admitted to using the reserve bots on their PhpPennyAuction script penny auction. Shameful!

Situation:
i own a an auction website…this is a penny acution, in this website there are on auction hot items such as iPhones, iMacs, TVs, videogames etc…this is how it works…Users buy a bunch of bids, they cost 50 cents each, and every time that a bid is placed, the price of the item increases of 1 cent and adds 10 seconds to the end of the auction, the items have NO minimum price…Problem:
….Everything was running well till yesterday, since yesterday the script started acting up…it will make the auction end as soon as an user reaches about 200 bids placed, using the bidbutler or not! NO MATTER WHAT! I have setup to do not make the auction end untill the item reaches a minimum price…but the script IGNORES this setting now! I REALLY REALL REALLY REALLY need this to be fixed asap! Today i sold an iPhone for $ 64, an iMac for $ 69 and a Sony Bravia 52″ for $ 86!!! And i don’t even want to mention the other items! I have to ship these items and i cannot take the website down or claim “technical issues” because it’ll mean BAD REVIEWS, so losing customers and business, and i am VERY precise about my business! [Guess they forgot this article by the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10494724] And the night is coming, the users will reach that target quicker, because of the low traffic!The website is made in PHP, so you must know about it! Willing to pay whatever! Just tell me a price! today i lost over 4K between last night and today giving away all these items for such a low prices!
Also i have some other minor bug to fix, but that will be later, i need to fix this first, also i will need to RENEW the template/Graphic! Or maybe get a new template. I am willing to get one or more freelancer to do all this…If you want to see the website before to bid…it’s myluckybids com i don’t know if i can mention it here, but i really need help FAST! Thanks!”
This is absolutely despicable. Remember, someone that rips people off by committing fraud is more than likely to have no qualms about lying, especially when they are “very precise about their business.”

Hello, i am Mark Spencer, this article is based on one pennyburners article, as we already excplained to them, this freelancer request was not posted by us. In fact, back in April, we have requested Freelancer.com to remove the project, and they did right away (their affiliate sites might have not yet). We understand pennyburners not deleting the article due to contracts with other penny auction owners and the convenience of having bad reviews about non affiliated sites, but we still think that PAW is an honest penny auctions review site.
