We were recently e-mailed by someone on behalf of Spike Networks to let us know about Auction Hunters. Auction Hunters is a new show for fans of antiques, collectibles and auctions, and it’s set to premiere on SpikeTV tomorrow, 11/9/2010, at 10:00P/9:00CST. The series follows two of the best “treasure hunters” of sorts and explores the cutthroat world of storage unit auctions.
We came across an ad for Auction Hunters a few days ago and were actually considering e-mailing them to make them aware of penny auctions. In case you’re wondering: What’s a Penny Auction?
“Every day in America, there are over 10,000 abandoned storage units that are put up for public auction. Each unit has the potential to be a goldmine or a bust for those who make their living hunting unclaimed property – you saw what happened when Paris Hilton and Whitney Houston’s storage units were auctioned off!”
Though the series is not about penny auctions, perhaps Auction Hunters will one day feature/bid on a penny auction ;). Let us know if you watch the show and what you think of it!

We have been buying self storage units up for auction for several years now, and a couple times we have won them for one Penny! There was one company that recently started doing all of their storage auctions on Ebay, and some of them go so little attention that we manged to snag them for only 1 cent!
