I was directed to the bidmacs site by a news report of a cool online auction site. I went to it and followed the 3 steps for what I believed was creating my account. I thought nothing of providing my debit card number for future purposes, but was not shown or told that by providing my information they were going to debit my account $149.99. I was never shown a screen asking me if I wanted to purchase “bids”….they just took money out of my account. This should be illegal!

I am a single mother. I went to the site, curious, to see if there might be items I could bid on for Christmas gifts for my son. They took money from my account, the account which my bills are paid out of. Now I have a $149.42 over-draft in my account an no way to make my car payment which is due. I have tried e-mailing the business and I have been on-hold on their automated phone line over an hour waiting to speak to someone to clear this up. No one will answer my call (yes, I am calling during business hours!), and I am panicking because I can’t afford to just give $149.99 to a business that practices deceptive business practices. If someone would offer some suggestions on how I can get my money refunded ASAP I would greatly appreciate it.

Deborah, Wow I did not see or hear that this site was charging $149.99 without users knowing it. You might want to report them to the FTC http://www.Ftccomplaintassistant.gov as well as the Attorney General in your state, the BBB in Utah as well. I am very sorry to hear that this happened to you & that you had an overdraft, you may want to call your bank and explain the situation.

      Hi Deborah;

I went through the same thing. They told me they would refund the 149.99 but I haven’t seen it in 6 days. However I did file a claim with my bank (they said they will put my money back and file a claim with that merchant) and I filed a fraud report with the FBI at http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx.

I recommend you do the same.
Just let your bank know that you did not authorize purchase of anything.

      Best wishes.
      Joshua

I went through same thing and emailed “michelle” at bidmacs.com and customer service. 2 days later I am still waiting for a response to email demanding refund. I know for a fact the website does not tell you until AFTER you enter registration that you have been charged almost $150. What a ripoff. Do not believe this crap. Do not get ripped off.

Go to your bank and use the magic word: “chargeback”.

You’ll get the money refunded unless the merchant can prove that it was a legit transaction, i.e. the onus is on them.

I am someone who uses penny auctions all the same, and all the advertising on this site looks the same, Is penny auction watch site posting context for driving keyword placement or what. I have personally tried multiple sites and find them all similar, and I just got done trying this bidmacs and it seems fair and similar to others, in fact there link above does show the 149.00 so I am a little confused on your statement, However I don’t see any bad press on this site about any companies that advertise… I think they are all Sixes!

Huh? No, not at all. Send me proof that the advertisers on this site are acting unethically and/or illegally and I will pull advertisements and refund their money. I’ve done it in the past and will do it again if I have to. Advertising here does not signify an endorsement. I don’t know what you mean by “driving keyword placement.”

@Jim – I don’t know if you are a shill for BidMacs or what your role is, but I will dispute your claim of the $149 being shown and offer you proof that it is not:

      http://www.eiscams.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/201011270803Select-your-bid-pack.-Are-you-the-next-bidmacs™-Winner-_1290870208388.png

This screen shot was taken this morning at 08:03 MST. Notice at the top of the shot the the notation that the account was successfully created. This is the secondary page after account creation. I challenge you to find anywhere on that page any mention of a $149 charge.

Yes, I created a bogus account in violation of the Terms of Service. The same Terms of Service that, by the way, do not disclose a charge of $149.00.

The only charge a consumer should expect from that page is whatever bid package they select. There is one item on that page that should be of concern, however, and that is the tick box saying “I agree that this is a one time purchase”. While on the one hand it may tell the consumer that they will only be charged once for the bid pack they selected, it may also be telling the consumer that the phantom $149 charge will also be charged only once.

So I ask again, where is the disclosure that a $149 Membership Fee is going to be charged?

My wife also read a “news” report about Bidmacs.com. She wanted to see what it was about and signed up. She was also charged $149.99 without knowing. At first we wanted to return it but figured we would see what all of this penny auction stuff was about and decided not to seek a refund. Plus I think not being on hold for over an hour is worth $150+. So far we have only won 15 bids. I think she spent 45 bids just to win that. So were still learning. I hope we win something good eventually.

    Hi There,
I just signed up with Bidmacs today and spent the whole day bidding for 4 items without winning. On my sister’s suggestion, I checked out the so called “Channel9NewsToday” thinking that it was an actual news website, only to find out that it’s an ADVERTORIAL!

I feel totally scammed by Bidmacs for such false advertising and would appreciate if someone can respond to me ASAP about a refund. I’m currently unemployed and was hoping to buy some cool gifts for my family at discounted prices since I couldn’t afford them. Instead, now I’ve incurred a $150 debt that I can’t afford…

You can contact the attorney general in your state to help you. Explain to them what penny auctions are, have them see this site if it helps and suggest they contact the Washington state AG as they are familiar with penny auctions.

I should have read the reviews FIRST!!!! I had the same horrible experience that many listed below have had. I thought I was creating an account on bidmacs. I filled in the required information (including my debit card number) and when I hit submit, I was told information was missing. It brought me back to the first page, and the city and state boxes that I had filled out were blank. I filled them in again thinking it was just a glitch and hit submit again. Once again I was told information was missing. It brought me back to the first page where the phone number box that I had filled in was now blank. I filled it in and once again hit submit. AGAIN I was told there was information missing and was brought back to that first page. Now I was getting a bad feeling. So I clicked on bid purchase history and to my horror there were 3 transactions – two for $149.99 each and one for $18.00! I did not authorize these transactions. I did not chose a bid package for $149.99, twice! (when you look back at the available packages, there aren’t even any listed at $149.99!) I emailed customer service immediately. The web site says a response is guaranteed within 30 minutes. It’s 3 days later and no one has responded yet. I tried calling the 877 number for customer service. The first time, I was on hold for 47 minutes without ever reaching a live body. The second time (later that same day), I was on hold for 23 minutes without ever reaching a live body. The third time (the next day), I was on hold for 17 minutes without ever reaching a live body. I concluded that no one was ever going to answer the phone. Now I have these three charges totaling $317.98 that were deducted from my checking account. Bidmacs web page says that they will make a refund for unused purchased bids. But how can that happen when no one answers my emails or phone calls? And when I read down the list of lodged complaints below, I see the same “canned” reply from Michelle at bidmacs apologizing for these people’s bad experiences and promising to personally handle their refunds. I would be interested to know if any of you have gotten a refund. I also see that people have contacted the FTC, the Better Business Bureau, and the fraud division of the FBI. I intend to contact all of these agencies and anyone else that might be able to help me get a refund. This was an expensive lesson – I will read the reviews FIRST from now on . . .

Why would you people ever enter your credit card information if you were not planning on being charged. It says right on the sight that your buying 300 bids for $149.99. You people follow the steps, enter your credit card info hit submit, and then complain that they did exactly what they said they were going to do. That is sell you a bid pack of 300 bids for $149.00 Wake up people, read the directions and act accordingly.

hi all – it wasn’t obvious but it did show the 250 bids, so i knew what i was getting into… i also knew that i could get a refund according to their terms should i want it. after i started trying to win something and got nowhere after multiples of bids, i started to do the research i should’ve done in the first place. i was not reassured (i hadn’t seen all these remarks) by what i read and started to feel scammed. this is when i decided to try and get a refund (i sent an email and got no response)…… i kept checking the site and was enticed by some of the items and started to bid again (this was last night) and i won two items! i was very psyched! somebody from bidmacs called me today to confirm a mailing address (which i wouldn’t give them until they told me some of my address that is listed from my registration) and said the items were being shipped. not that it’s worth anything but the guy i talked to “sounded” genuine and grounded, so i’m feeling hopeful that i might actually receive these items. we’ll see. i’ve got some bids left, so i might try to win again – we’ll see. hopefully i’ll remember to update everyone as to whether i received these items. thx for reading.

@Chris – I am not as polite as Ms. Lee, so I call B.S. on your comments. Please direct the readers of this post to where it claims 300 bids for $149 – there is NO option for that, nor is there a disclosure of a Membership Fee. The closest charge to $149 is $165 for 300 bids.

      • Jim November 28, 2010, 3:30 pm

@EIS- No I am not as polite as anyone on this site, other than I know how to do my research on you and your company Eiscams..

I follow sites like this for leads for my business, because i know what they can do to a business, if they are being used in a harmful way.

First of all I don’t work for the company and in fact I have been following this site for quite sometime and since this Company started, I think i was one of the first people who actually signed up. I also saw there ad in a banner of an email I got threw my service provider.

So I ask you EIS, what is your role in all of this, Who do you represent besides Eiscams.com ? Did you sign up on the main home site or the promotional ad? Because I just signed up on the home page and made 3 different accounts and picked different packs and was charged the exact amount of the purchased bids, 18 bucks , 36, etc

Dont be pulling your “Do you work for the company Jim or what your role is, because I don’t need to hide.

Your company and site is on Privacy, you prey on new businesses without facts, you assume, you are slanderous in nature and your bluehost and your self should be sued. In fact i see you write about Quibids as well, One of the first companies in the market and personally I think a pretty good one, but yet you picked up on them right away.

So again I have looked at all these posts and it does seem that everyone has signed up for the promotional bidpacks, cause its impossible from what i can tell to be charged 149.99 on any other link I have found, and sometimes people do make mistakes (consumers can become upset and make complaints to get out of the charge, or sometimes they really don’t see something or pay attention enough, however there shopping cart is clear very clear and in fact compliant.

I clicked on Quibids Ad on this site and went threw the process, and it wasn’t as clear as bidmacs, i saw the amount however the gold seal on Quibids was a little distracting.

So again, what is your beef, you are calling out one of there representatives publicly on the forum?

Well I am calling you out, call me, here is my number 970-343-0557 I am not hiding, in fact I am going to be in Utah for another 2 days and I am going to call them myself and see if I can come by the offices as a member of there site and hope to even get them as a client.

Again EIS, Companies in this space have from time to time been known to grow a little to fast and Bidcactus and Swoopo and even big deal has had to throttle back a bit cause it got too big too fast.

So until you call them up and go to there offices, don’t make judgment, cause these days you cant hide behind a website, you are liable for your actions, words, and all harm you cause to a business, your little “Just whisper ++++”” I wont even say it cause you know what it can do to a business and that is enough to say you have made yourself liable, and the host of your site or anyone you advertise on your site becomes at risk for a lawsuit.

Again EIS, Feel free to call me to discuss you thoughts or concerns and I would be happy talk to you.

I took Jim up on his offer to call him. We had, in my opinion, a substantial conversation where we were able to expound on our points of view. Surprisingly, unless I completely misread the conversation, we are not that far apart on our views. I completely understand his position and I hope we will have clarification shortly on some differing points of view. Thanks for your time Jim.

On 11/19/2010, I, too, entered the registration page for bidmac via what appeared to be a news web site. At no time did it say I would be charged $149.99. When I discovered that I would be charged, I immediately tried to contact Bidmacs by phone and email. I have since filed complaints with the Utah Better Business Bureau and the FTC. After seeing your web page, I have twice emailed “Michelle@bidmacs.com, but have not yet received a reply. I have also disputed the charge (which just showed up today, 11/25/2010) with my credit card company.

For sure it says it!!!! After you register, when it asks you to submit your shipping information and credit card info, on the left hand side of the screen. It says bidmacs shopping cart and shows you are buying 250 bids and getting 50 free. I was going to try the site and now I’m paranoid..It’s clear to me they charge in order for you to bid but does it work?!?!?!?

Forgive me for being blunt but am I the only person that signed up with 20/20 vision!? I am not sure what you folks are not seeing, but I also signed up for bidmacs, and the offer I believe you all are talking about is a special promotion offer. It gave me 250 bids for 149.99 plus 50 free bonus bids. I did win items on the site ($100 Nordstrom Card, 25 bid vouchers, an a flashlight 3 pack). Needless to say, I’m pretty happy with it so far!

I’m just confused how a good amount of the comments on here are in regards to feeling like $149 was a hidden charge? How did you folks miss this? FYI: Here are the steps I took. #1 I came across this site and was intrigued. http://www.channel9newstoday.com/ At first I thought this was too good to be true but with the holiday season coming up and thinking there could be a possibility that bidmacs could actually be legit I thought I would give it a shot. #2 I clicked on the link on the news site and I entered in my information on the 1st page and then on the 2nd page they mentioned I would get 250 bids plus 50 bids for $149 just to the left of the form. I went back and I took a screen shot for you guys because I was so confused on how the majority could miss the charge? http://i1122.photobucket.com/albums/l531/doyleshane/Screenshot2010-11-23at12938PM.png

Anyway for what its worth, I’m sold on penny auctions… Being a 1st time penny auction user I have been happy with bidmacs. I’m now curious to see and try others as well.

I was taken to a different site format to register becasue my screen would only show registration info boxes up through the “username” so I selected contact us and asked why the remainder of the registration screen was behind all the logos – I could tab there but could not see what I was tabbing to. Once I sent the question to contact us prompt a new registration screen popped up so I completed it. And there was not any “shopping cart” info to the left side as others have also described. The link you provided is clear to show the shopping cart view but if others experienced same hiccups I did then I can understand why they never saw it.

@EIS… That screenshot you showed seems to be even more clear than what I signed up with. If I were to guess they probably online media with that channel 9 site and it may not be cost effective to give the users the variety of options they offer when you just go to the site directly. Just like any biz.. there are special promos done for certain channels of marketing. I run a fitness biz and depending on the marketing I do… some people may get a different deal when finding us thu a magazine I advertise in vs. just walking thru the door… I don’t see how that is “monkey business”?

Not a scam….more of a very crude business model… not something I would join. I would compare it to a bet where the odds are extremely against you and the “house” always wins. Take for example the iPad. Most of them get to $50.00 or more, which means there was 5000 bids. (1 bid is $0.01). If you take the 5000 bids and multiply it by $0.60, that is $3000 that the company was paid for the ipad plus the $50 for the item, grand total of $3050 for an item that retails at $500. Net profit of $2550.

I too signed up for this site…I must be blind, because I didn’t see the $149.99… I saw that I was signing up for a free account registration and when I hit the submit button for registration, I don’t recall this site indicating to me I was purchasing anything.

So, shame on me for not taking the time to read every single item on every single page of every single site.

These are deceptive business practices at best, theft almost. In no way do these represent good business practices. Consumers are under the impression they are signing up for an account for which they have the opportunity to purchase bids later, not immediately.

I will dispute this charge with my credit card company.

Bottom line, while it is up to the consumer to read the fine print, fair business practices call for the company to act in an ethical manner and consumers should be able to place some sense of trust with this company, and at this time, this company has not acted in an appropriate manner and needs to reevaluate how they do business.

I was charge $149.99 after I had agreed only to the starter order of 30 bids + 100 free. I received confirmation of that order…started slowly bidding. Hours later, just did a quick email check and saw I had additional emails from bidmacs stating I had purchased a supersize pack of 300 + 25 free!! I expect a full refund. I did bid but only with the started pack with the 30 + 100 free (just what I had expected to use). This company is supposed to be reputable…according to what I had read before signing up. I will pursue this until it is resolved with a full refund of $149.9911

    Michelle (Michelle@bidmacs.com) –
I did the same as many other of the registrants and went through the process believing I was buying starter bid package for $18 bids just to try it out. I did not see any evidence of the $149 which is a complete turnoff. Nowhere did it say or ask for authorization of the $149. In fact, I kept getting error messages once I hit submit, so I was charged 2X for the $18 package. I wish I would have found this string of commentary before trying it. I would like to be refunded the full amount.

@Michelle – as the official spokesperson for BidMacs, could you please tell the posters here why the channel9newstoday.con fake news site redirects to the URL savefunwin.com, a site offering BidMacs registrations? Why is BidMacs allowing a third-party website to offer registrations? Why are users just not taken directly to the BidMacs official website?

Would you also please address why a visitor redirected to savefunwin.com who registers for BidMacs is then served a registration page that discloses the $149 bid pack fee and why users who go directly to BidMacs and register are not showed the same registration page?

For all users/posters who came here for information, the facts that I mention here are enough to question the legitimacy of BidMacs, and I urge all interested parties to avoid this site.

For those who have been zapped with unknown charges, I urge you to whisper “chargeback” into your cc providers ear, then proceed to your home states Consumer Protection office and file a complaint. Then proceed to the Utah Consumer Protection office and file a similar complaint. Finally, proceed to the iC3.gov website and file a complaint.

I was directed to the Bidmacs website by what I thought was a news report. I went to it and followed the 3 steps for what I believed was creating my account. Thinking that it was similar to Paypal, I provided my credit card number for potential future purposes. To my shock, I discovered on the next screen that they had charged my account for $149.99. I was never shown a screen asking me if I wanted to purchase “bids”….they just took money out of my account.

After a couple of days of investigation, I discovered that the company/advertiser is CONSTANTLY changing their website–that is why some people have seen the purchase info and why some people have not.

At this point, I have disputed the charge with my credit card company, spoken with a Bidmacs representative, and e-mailed Michelle. On Monday, I will be contacting my local TV station, the Better Business Bureau, and the FTC. What they are doing is wrong!!!

Good news! As Michelle suggested in her reply, I called the 877-364-9225. I got a hold of her immediately and she was surprisingly VERY kind and professional. She said she would refund my money and she even gave me a reference #.

Today, my account was credited back the $149.99. I am not sure if it is the “chargeback” that my bank promised or the refund that Michelle said she would issue, but in either case, the money is there. I will keep you posted.

Just one more thought, it would be sad if Bidmacs is a legit company that made a horrible advertising decision. My brief experience with both the customer service representative (after the 30 minute wait “on hold”) and Michelle were positive.
I truly hope that everyone is able to get their money back and if Bidmacs was not trying to scam anyone that they can recover from this terrible mess.

I too, had a similar experience with these crooks. I went to the site after reading an article, and set up my “user profile” which asked for credit card info. I assumed it was similar to EBay, where you can keep your credit card info on file for future reference, so I entered it in case I won an auction. I then hopped around the site a bit, trying to figure out the strategy of this type of auction. About 3 minutes later, I received a text message alert from my credit card company saying $149.99 had been charged to my account. Furious, I called the customer service number and was on hold for 47 minutes before someone answered. He said he couldn’t issue a refund, but he would “submit it to management who would decide within 3 to 7 days” whether or not a refund would be issued. I asked to speak to his supervisor – totally not believing he didn’t have the authority to issue a refund – and I was told that he would have a supervisor call me shortly. Of course – no one ever called! I just filed a complaint with my credit card company when the charge posted – 7 days later. Obviously, management didn’t even look at a refund…what a Rip-Off!!!! I’m getting ready to file a complaint with the BBB in my state, and in Utah – and file a complaint with the FBI. DO NOT SET UP A USER ACCOUNT WITH THESE SCAM ARTISTIS…BEWARE! Also, my sister is an investigative reporter for the New York Times – I’m seeing if she can get a story going on these folks to help protect all the unsuspecting victims out there.

I am encountering the same problem. I called customer service a few times the past 2 days and was on hold for a long time. I emailed them as well. So I ended up calling my credit card company to dispute the charge. I tried calling customer service once again and finally got hold of a representative. She said bidmacs will not ask for credit card info unless it was for purchasing a bidpack. She said since I’ve not use any of the purchase bids, she’ll put in the request to refund the $149.99. According to her, the refund will take effect within 3-7 days. I sure hope that is true. Anyone else gotten a refund yet?

I just logged in to my bidmacs account and noticed the 300bids (250 purchased, 50 free) is reduced to 2 bids (1,1). I hope this means that they are working on a refund. Since my account history showed zero bids used.

@Steve – unfortunately you are the “retarded” one. As much as I would like to say that is you who can’t understand what is happening here, I can’t because I think you know exactly what is taking place.

Any user who went to the fake news site and then registered was served a distinctly different web page then users who went directly to BidMacs and registered from there.

Fake News Site = savefunwin.com registration with the $149 disclosed.

BidMac.com = registration with no disclosure.

By the way Steve. Ad hominen attacks with poor language skills are the refuge of those who have no defense for what they are attacking. EIS, I signed up for Bidmacs before thanksgiving and I am very satisfied with them and the Mixer I won, and yes I got it .

So My question to you is this. Are you a customer? Did you sign up yourself and pay the 149.99 like I did on the right advertised page? And no I am not with the company.

I googled Bidmacs trying to find an address to send them a testimonial picture and found this site. I am appalled by your comments and even some of those on this site. I can’t believe this is even being allowed, especially when the page i signed up on showed the 149.99 clearly, and the links you posted are not what i saw, and i guarantee no one else signed up on unless you go directly to the site like my son in law did after I won, and he was able to choose his bid pack but didn’t get the bonus bids like I did.

In fact the save fun win .com site i went to was not those images you have shown , it went straight to the sight, so what funny stuff are you playing yourself.

I signed up from a banner i saw on MSN news and i clicked it and it took me to a page that is the special offer. And if you go to the second page like I just did, it’s pretty darn clear. I found this link http://www.savefunwin.com/?affiliateid=2618&cid=1108&sub_aff=3675309 and on the second page it says shopping cart right plain in front of you. Also you could have looked for it yourself on google and why didn’t you post the truth and right website where myself and all others signed up on and be a stand up gentleman. Why hasn’t anyone told the truth, this site is a review but I don’t see anyone on here doing anything but to hurt this company. They all keep saying where is the 149.99, well its on the page, the promotional page

My husband ran a business for over 40 years and if he had someone saying the things like you have, I personally would have put you on my knees, no one is never ever too old for spankings!!!

Also you keep posting that this poor Michelle who is only trying to help out to base the facts, i think you should have your facts young man checked and quit slandering this company, who to me is a winner and so was I.

Shame on you, just shame on you!!!!!

    Mildred

    • EIS November 28, 2010, 7:55 pm

@Mildred – there is no shame on me at all, and I am sorry that you are unable to understand my point.

The fact remains: if you go to channel9newstoday.com and follow the BidMacs link, you are taken to a URL at savefunwin.com/ that has a big string of letters and numbers after it. This is the affiliate id and the sub affiliate id string identifying who gets credit for the user signing up. I showed a screen shot of that process, and I indicated that indeed, the $149 was disclosed.

If you go to BidMacs directly and register, you do not get the same registration page as the savefunwin site. You get a page where you select a bid pack and purchase it. Again, I showed a screen shot of that page. Based upon the comments here, this page appears to be creating the issue,

IF you just type in http://savefunwin.com you get redirected immediately to http://www.bidmacs.com where you register normally.

The issue you are having with me is that you think everyone is signing up in a similar manner as you are, through the savefunwin site. I am saying yes, some people are. And some people are not because they are signing up directly at BidMacs. If you can’t understand that, I don’t know what else to say to you to clarify it.

Finally, as far as Michelle goes, the young lady has her work cut out for her right now. She is doing what a a good customer service person should be doing – working with her customers to resolve their issues. I commend her for that and give her two thumbs up for it. However, I am puzzled why her employers fail to address the confusion.

Received the first item today, all doubts are gone, waiting for the next 3 to arrive. I just hope they don’t have that 7 win limit per month. And please put the iPad back and other apple products. No PC junk, no HP or Lenovo notebooks.

@Mildred- You seem to be a very nice person. So I don’t want to be negative towards you. But, the facts are the facts. Many people including myself, were charged $149.99 unknowingly. Just maybe we ALL missed something so clearly printed, and need to take responsibility for our actions. However, that is just not the case. I will admit I was excited to check out the website. I couldn’t wait to get my iPad for $50.00. But all I wanted to do at first was “check it out”. I was not prepared to pay/gamble $149.99! (especially during this time of year). There was nothing clearly marked on the webpage that I registered on. I have no reason to make that up.

EIS may have a personal agenda here; only he knows. But for now, I will go with my gut, and assume he is acting on my behalf. Thanks EIS! Maybe, Bidmacs is a legitimate company? Time will tell. We will see if people are still feeling scammed in the months to come. They sure have a great business model. (sell products for well more than their retail value, and sell the idea that the consumers can save up to 95% on those great items! It is a WIN/WIN right?) Maybe?? Even if not, we all love the thrill of thinking there is a chance we could WIN! I have an idea!! Lets create a community or group that log on at the same time, and agree to let each other win something with no other bidders? We could all be winners! What do you think Michele?

Yesterday i ordered $27 of bids on the bidmacs webstite. However, I’m very nervous to think that my account could be charged an addtional $149,99. This is horrible! I will contact my charge card company first thing Monday to prevent any other charges above the $27.00. I hope I’m not to late, this would hurt my chances of providing a decent Christmas for my boys.

EIS- I refresh the page after posting my last comment and immediately i see this comment from Charmell.

See what you have started, You are liable and I hope they file suit against you, You have caused fear by way of false statements, and images, without proper research, proof or facts and without comment or merit. You even told people to file complaints based on your comments or bad reporting.

The laws for a reviews or editorials are clear and even words in writing when making a statement, weather they are your opinion or not. If they are published and cause the above you are liable.

Right to freedoms of speech do not comply or protected when it is a business, especially when implied by way of unproven facts, or cause undue fear, loss of business or rumor, even news agencies have to have there facts and they better be correct, or they are subject to suits and the reporter being fired.

When I get in touch with them tomorrow and hopefully go there, I am going to tell them they need to file suit against you EIS, your host and everyone you have advertised.

Oh and by the way, do some basic research the bbb filing for them shows who the principles are it shows the one as an attorney and i googled both of them together and found they are both attorneys. So legal fees should be rather cheap for them.. It makes me sick to see any business being slammed, even the hundreds plus complaints i found about bidcactus and other sites.

I am pro business, but fair business, and being done right and being compliant, however I do not like what you have done and are doing, its like starting a rumor, and before too long it becomes the truth in the eyes of people like Charmell, Who was a true paying customer and now you have just seen proof of what this and you have done and the fear you have started.

I do feel that this site does allow posts and PAW is and does do the right thing, and I do feel that removing your posts until proven differently and actual comments from the corporate needs to happen, cause this whole string stinks of slander from you and leaves PAW in a bad position, when they try and do the right thing by showing and allowing Penny auctions to exist and reporting on things she finds interesting or proof. Its also important to report corrections, although yours can not be fixed or corrected, you words have done enough and the proof is on this site.

Where was the membership fee listed on the site? I have to call tomorrow during business hours since they are not opened now. I am going to make sure I get my money back whether they refund it or I completely stop payment from my account.

People!!! On Bidmac, I watched a x-box game (valued at $59.99) bidding at $7.64, then someone would place a bid and the bid clock would be reset for another 20 seconds. The clock would count down to 3 or 4 seconds, and then someone else would place a bid and the clock would reset to another 20 seconds. Now let’s take a time out and pretend someone won the x-box game for $7.65. This translates into 765 bid at $0.60 for each bid which totals $459.00 for Bidmacs plus $7.65 from the winner of the auction. I don’t see how anyone finds this is a good company to join !!!!!

I also went to the site from the news link which at teh time I thought was real and have come to find out is fake which upsets me due to the nature of the advertising. I have called several times and once got through and they told me someone would have to call me back at 1pm MST and I still never got that call. Called again later in the day (even though I tried using the customer support form on the website with their guaranteed 30 min reposnse which never happened and also sent emails to support and also to michelle @ bidmac) I was able to finally speak with someone after waiting approx 45 min on hold and they processed my cancellation and told me I would see a refund of the $149.99 and then a charge of $16.20 for the bids I used in 3 to 7 days to process. I sure hope this happens b/c after reading all these reviews I am tempted to go ahead and contact my bank and explain the situation b/c the link from the news cast does not clearly show you are going to be charged $149.99 when you register for free. When I got notified of teh charge I went ahead and tried out some bids but this site is definitely not what I thought it would be. So I immediately wanted to cancel and get a refund. I sure hope what the representative told me happens and I even got a confirmation#. Fingers crossed.

I personally do not have problem with bidmacs and I do remember before I registered that it was clearly stated that my credit card will be charged $149. BUT I just checked the site again just now using other computer (no cookie trace) and this time the site looks completely different, it doesn’t say that it will charge you $149 like it did before and I registered a week ago. So I think it is wrong if they now charge you $149 because it doesn’t say that anymore. Other than that, I’ve spent probably $250 just trying to win something real. It is very very hard to win, but finally I did win a macbook air for just $56. I’ll have to wait 10 days to see if it arrives as advertised. I won’t be bidding until I see the laptop.

      To Sean,

I can assure you they are not a scam. I have been in salt lake over the holidays and while watching this site and posts on here, it made me make a visit to there corporate offices. They are very real in deed and want the customers to have the best experience they can have.

They have an incredible staff and want to make sure every concern is handled. In fact I think people are getting confused on this 149.99 because its not on the main site, Its a promotion you saw for that price for 250 bids and 50 bonus bids. As you stated I saw the price as well on there special offer and page and it was more than clear. I want to clarify again this offer is not on the home site, its an offer you signed up on from an advertisement threw third party sites Or a Banner you saw.

You are right they are making some changes and they gave me the preview the day I was there, yesterday and it looks like it is now starting happen. They also stated that after reading these posts and talking to myself and me passing on some suggestions from EIS that they are going to make all promotional landing pages within the site like the 149.99. They have some great stuff coming out from what I was told and I guess its a wait and see.

PS..good Job on the win, and I am sure you will get it, I met one of the order and winner verification guys Jay, and he is a great guy.

So for all who have paid the 149.99 it was a special promotion and you bought on a separate page not the home site. You did not buy something else and get charged something else. And if you aren’t happy call them or Michelle, (Hi Michelle) I met her also very nice and professional and they will take care of you.

Bidmacs is a scam! $150 gone. Is very hard to win the auction. when you close to finish they reset the timer to 20 seconds again an again and again.

Why they sale an iPad for $75, easy is the best business ever, why? = each time you bid you spend $0.60, but the price of the item only raises $0.01.

Amazing right, each dollar really means $60 of people that lose their money. So If they sell an iPad for $75, is 75×60=$4500 they make and you still have to pay $75 for the iPad plus the shipping.

    Great Scam!

    • Sean November 30, 2010, 11:54 pm

Why is that a scam? If they sell it to you cheap without making any profit, that’s too good to be true. But this way, I know they are making profit and I’m aware of how much profit they are making. Do you know how many penny auction website there are? over 100 of them and most if not all are legits? why? because most of them probably make money and lots of it. Obviously you are new to penny auction.

      • Sean December 5, 2010, 3:22 pm

Well, I have to take it back the part about making a lot of profit. It might seem that they make a lot of profit from your math, but you forgot to take into account people who use “buy it now” options. Those who have been bidding heavily would most likely take this option and left bidmacs with very little profit if any.. So they make more profit if there are a lot of people who bid early and gave up after wasting just a few bids. I guess it’s not that easy to make profit here not to imagine the infrastructure they have to pay to keep the system in top shape.

I had the same horrible experience of being charged 149.99$ without my consent. I was visiting the site for understanding the business model and potentially bring as an example to my teaching. I now have a perfect example of bad business ethics for my class.

Without any notice or prompt for submission of payments, I was charged this amount out of a card that they claim as “being held for record”, similar to what others had reported here. I then immediately called the company to request refund. The first call was disconnected for an unknown reason after holding for 15 minutes, while the second one got through after waiting for 45 minutes. I talked to the lady named Julia who told me that the full amount will be refunded in 3 days. 7 days have elapsed and no refund is found on my credit card.

      James,

I been following your posts all over the place. I personally have been out to there offices, and I call you on your comments. You have been posting the same post everywhere. Who are you. You have Michelle’s info, but did you call her, Did you even sign up. I have seen the sign up and its legit, compliant and in fact I think you should be sued. The terms on the promotional page are more than clear and you know it.

I wonder if you are a competitor, cause obviously you state you have talked with someone at the fed but you list a number to call for Michelle I met her she is real and very nice.

also post the page your talking about, the page you so called was changed, the promo you signed up on, Cause I sure saw it change alright, to have Christmas Promotion and music on it. So again Post it, submit it, do something instead of slam a good business.

Come on be a man and contact them directly and quit hiding, or go to there offices directly, they will let you come by anytime you want just like they did me. Dont start posting slanderous comments all over the web, that’s unless you have some other motive. 1-970-343-0557 is my number if you would like to call me, I am sick of people blasting companies like this, every where i look, whether its big box stores, mom and pop shops etc, people like you should not be able to shop period. Again you need to check yourself, I met over 30 people with this company and you need to get your facts straight or at least base your comments on facts.

If you have been SCAMMED like I have with Bidmacs and have been trying to get a REFUND on charges made to your card without your clear consent, this is what you should do:

Go ahead and send Bidmacs multiple emails and leave them voice messages. Then call your bank or credit card company to DISPUTE the charges. Your bank or credit card company will attempt to contact Bidmacs for you!! Let them know Bidmacs is a fraudulent company and that charges were made to your card WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT!!! Let them know how Bidmacs ‘tricked’ you into buying bids while you were under the impression registering online would be free!!

You will also need to file a complaint with the BBB. This should also kick Bidmacs into gear with REFUNDING what is yours!!!!

Hopefully all this effort will eventually SHUT BIDMACS DOWN. They do not deserve to be conducting business as they have proven to be nothing but unethical and just down right shady!!!

This happened on November 22, 2010 and I called them November 23 and they said it would be refunded. Nothing yet! I waited a week and called again and they told me the same thing! Now I am googling them and finding out they are a complete scam!!! I’m sending this link to the Arizona BBB!!!

I signed up after I saw a link from a weather site to this fake news site. I thought it was a local news site so I followed the link to this amazing bidmacs.com. Turns out, its not amazing at all. In fact, all they do is steal from you. And they’re good at it. I registered for an account and was immediately charged $149.99. There was certainly no warning that I would be charged this amount. This site is very obviously a scam.
Furthermore, the entity “jim” that wrote about what a legit site it was obviously works with, for, or owns the site. I called them for a refund and was also told by “Julia” that i would receive a refund within 3 to 7 days. She also told me that there was no confirmation number of the refund and simply that it was verifiable with her name and employee number, which was “123”.

These people are bull$%# and they shamelessly defraud honest people. Stay away from this website. No reputable company deals like this.
One last thing, this “Michelle” that replies to Yi Qian saying that their account has been refunded is PROOF that this website is bogus. How in the hell does “Michelle” know that this is the one Yi Qian who had this terrible experience and has been taken care of? There is no way, a company that wasn’t run by monkeys would post that on a website like this.

I think you guys just don’t read carefully. I was fully aware of the $149 charge. yes, they could make it more obvious, but I’m very careful when it comes to things like this so I read all the fine print.

At first I had some doubt about bidmacs even after I won something, but after receiving the item I won, a nice MacBook Air, shipped from best buy, I know it’s for real. The only problem now is that they seem to be running out of the good stuff. No more iPads. It’s not impossible to win and it’s pretty low risk compared to other site. Let’s say you want to buy an ipod 64GB which costs $399; then you should try it on bidmacs (if they still have this) and if you lose, just buy the ipod outright; you only pay the difference between retail price and the money you’ve spent on the bids. On other site, like BidCactus, if you lose, you lose it all.

I spend 2 hr bidding on $100 Home Depot gift card.
When in normal auction the counter goes 5, 4, 3 , going, going, SOLD, in this auction the final bid went 5, 4, 3 SOLD.
    The card sold for $7.55.
So the bidmac collected 755x$.060= $453 for the bids plus final $7.55.
Not bad after spending $100 on the card.
Do you think real people would spend $453 bidding on $100 card?

    • Sean December 9, 2010, 11:36 am

“Smart” people would have used the buy it now option. $100 gift card will cost you $100 minus the amount you have paid for the bids, You lose $0 for a chance to save a lot; that’s hard to beat.
If you think Bidmacs collected $453; i doubt it. I’m sure some of the top “smart” bidders would have used the buy it now option. So Bidmacs profit is actuall none or very small for these top bidders. They make small profit on people who bailed out early. Come on people, think about it. Company has to make profit to survive otherwise it’s too good to be true. Some penny auction sites offered buy it now option but at inflated price; Bidmacs is the only one that actually offers you the normal store price. For example, they buy it now for iPad 16GB wifi was $499; that’s how much apple store is selling this for. Now try Quibids, they are selling the same item for $585. yes you can use buy it now, buy you pay $86 more than bidmacs. I don’t think you guys understand; bidmacs is actually the best compared to the rest of them. And also, avoid BidCactus at any cost, no buy it now option, a $250 gift car was bid to over $50; That’s at least 3500 profit for BidCactus and there is no buy it now option.

You seam to have a answer to those who have complained. You have not addressed their complanint in your response. My complaint is the same as many others. You can check with Julia #5009 who I have contacted once on 12/29/2010 and again on 1/7/2011. Now I find that no one answers the phone. My first request was made on 12/03/2010 the day after you charged my account for $149.00. I am a senior citizen and that money was to be used to buy presents for my grand children. I am about to contact the Attorney General. The registrant of the bidmacs web site will also be involved. I expect to hear from you.

I won to small items on Dec 7. I have been looking for the items in the mail but haven’t seen them. I called today and they said my address hasn’t been verified. What’s up with that. I set the account up why would the address not be right. They said they tried calling me 3 times to verify but they must have called at midnight as I gave them my work number and their hours are the same as my work hours. They didn’t leave a message and we have three people answering the phones plus call notes. Now everything is verified and they said the two items would be shipped out as soon as they can. I sure better get them before Christmas. Most everything they have to bid on now is $25-$50. What a joke! I do appreciate that they do answer their phones.

I had a similar experience; I was charged 149.99 when all I was trying to do was sign up for what was supposed to be 50 free bids! Luckily I was able to get someone on the phone the same day that was very nice and apologized for the misunderstanding. She said I entered on a promotional site. I should be receiving a refund any day now. If not I will dispute it on my credit card. I agree… this is a crappy way to do business and they should make it more clear to the consumers. A reputable business shouldn’t have to operate this way. I will reply when and if I get my refund as promised, but after reading all these reveiws I’m getting a bad feeling that I will have to dispute it with my credit card.

It is after hours so I have to wait till tomorrow. I want the items I spent so much time behind the computer trying to win. The only items I was able to win was a flip camera and an Apple 2GB IPod Shuffle which is always on the site being bid on. Stay away from Bidmacs site.

    I purchased a $149.00 membership last month from bidmacs.com, I won 6 – $50.00 costco cards, 2 – $15.00 Itunes card and 1 – $50.00 walmart card and 2 – $50.00 Target card.

All of the cards came right away by mail except for one itunes card and one target card, which bidmacs said they are resending.

I have had nothing but good luck with them, if there is a problem they answer the phone right away fix the issue and usually give free bid credits for the problems.

    Just my too cents.

After reading an article about this website, I decided to try it. I went onto the website which said free registration and within 3 days, $149.99 was taken out of my account which was an UNAUTHORIZED transaction. After speaking with many people who work there, they assured me that the funds would be back into my account within 3-5 days and we are still waiting after 4 weeks for the stolen money to be returned. I have reported this company and my bank is dissputing the charge and my lawyers have been advised.

        Dear Michelle,….
Why is it, no matter where I find complaints regarding bidmacs, you are the only account rep that responds???… You seem to be a bit fradaulent your self. I did just send you an email with all my information – I’m curious to see if actually get a refund. Here is my history with bidmacs so far:

        I registered a new account and purchased $149 worth of bides on Sunday, 11/28/2010. After fully understanding how your system works, I realized this was not something I wanted to be a part of. According to your website, you will provide refund any unused bids. (http://www.bidmacs.com/returns.html#4) ;
I used a total of 5 bids that day. On Monday, 11/29/2010, I called your customer support line and requested a refund of the remaining bids. I was giving an confirmation number and told I would receive my full refund (minus the 5 bids) within 3-7 days. On Wednesday, December 8, I called your customer support line again since I had NOT received any of my refund and it had been 10 days. I was then instructed that the refund would be resubmitted with a expedited service and to expect the refund in the by the end of the week.
It is now Saturday, December 18 and still no refund in sight. I am very unhappy with the service I have received and am going to pursue what ever avenues necessary to get my money back!
I know you have received all of my previous communications, since I have been locked out of my bidmac account since the first request for the refund.
        ————————————–
Now I’ve also submitted a complaint with the FBI address listed above on this page…. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!

This is a tough one. I’d like to say that I like BidMacs especially after I won more than $4k worth of items while spending only a fraction of that. I received all of them in less than 10 days which is great. But the slow response or if any response at all is the frustrating part. I still have one item that I bought using “buy now” option and 6 days have gone by, still not shipped. I also still have a lot of bids left but there is nothing valuable left to bid on. They only have bid packs and gift cards now, where are all the Apple/Mac stuff??? maybe they’ll change their name soon to BidJunk? I still hope BidMacs can put everything back together. The biggest mistake was that misleading promotional page which charged new member $149.99. This is probably causing them a lot of headache and resources that there is nothing left to help other customers. Come on BidMacs, just refund all of them; it was a mistake, so let’s move on and serve your real customers promptly.

      Sean,

How was it misleading, It clearly stated the terms and the shopping cart on Page 2 stated the price as well. The promo page is no different than the one I have seen on Quibids, except the shopping cart was actually bigger than Quibids and the price was listed 2 times. Also you won 4K worth of stuff, and your complaining and want a refund. This is exactly what I am talking about, Where is the mentality gone these days people. I didn’t win anything close to that other than maybe 400 bucks worth of stuff and I am happy as can be. Damn boy you should be happy not complaining.

Obviously you misunderstood me. I’m complaining about the slow response and no response at all. What is wrong with complaining about that? Just because I’ve won over 4k, doesn’t mean I can let go off other things, geez, I’m still waiting for my iPad to be shipped and it’s already more than a week. So you are saying I don’t need to complain about this??? Regarding the promotional site, I personally do not have problem with it, but do you see how many people complain about this, this means they didn’t make it clear!!! obviously if you read all the fine print, then everything is there, but I think it is very bad for a company trying to make a profit by burying the most important details in a fine print. This should be clearly stated in bold and bigger font. You need to read more, I have only positive criticsm to BigMacs so far. I want them to be more responsive. I sent question 3 times to them, finally got 1 response after I said I will share my experience on penny auction watch. A good company shouldn’t do that. Again, it’s all positive criticism, what is wrong with that. And also, the status of my ipad is still not shipped, this was bought using buy now option on 12/14, so you are saying I should let this go and consider it a loss?? what planet are you from?

Andrea, How was the charge unauthorized?

Everyone signed up the same way through the promo offer or a banner or advertisement we saw online, it had a check box on page one with the terms and conditions link that said I agree to the terms, Then on Page 2 it had a large Shopping cart that stated 149.99.

Contact Michelle, as she is a supervisor and I am sure she will make sure you are handled. I have seen there location and visited with them and they are very real and will handle your needs or did you use all your bids and now want a refund?

I have seen the promo offer and it is the same thing I signed up on and it was clearly stated what it was for, and you had to check the terms box and is impossible to miss the shopping cart. OH and by the way if you already disputed with your card company i am sure they are crediting your account so why would you need a refund.

Either way call Michelle her phone number is listed above

They don’t have any bid credits in my account and I did not bid on anything. I have received several promises since 12/03/2010.I understand you visited their location. That is a UPS Store. My bank account went in the negative over this(20days) my bank said they will close my account an put me on check systems-just because Bidmac can’t get it back when they say the first 4 or 5 times! My bank told me to call the Attorney General,BBB, and others to report Bidmac. Michelle, I am on a count down with my bank account, can you help me? Yesterday I came across this thread and saw Michelle’s info and called her regarding my account. She did answer her phone and was able to pull up my account. She requested the refund for me and I was again advised that I will receive a confirmation email within an hour. It’s been a full day and again no email and yes I have checked my spam folder. On every request I was told I would receive a confirmation email and never did, so now I don’t have much hope on my call to Michelle yesterday. like most on this site I have had a horrible experience with bidmacs.com. A friend told me about the site so I went to check it out, figuring that I could try it and get some chritsmas presents for the kids. I found their site and read all the material listed and how registration on the website was free and how to purchase bids. I started the registration process and received an e-mail to confirm my account. As I read their first e-mail a confirmation e-mail came through for my purchase of a super pac of bids costing 149.99. Since I had not purchased anything yet or even confirmed my registration, I immediatly contacted the bidmcs and spent all day on hold. I was finally able to get through and spoke with a rep by the name of Mikey. He was very nice and assured me that my refuned would be processed, at which time my phone died due to being on hold for three hours… Mikey called and left two voice mails (which I saved stating that my refund would appaer in my account within 5-7 businessdays. Needless to say the refund was never forthcoming. I have called back many time each time being assured that a refund would be forthcoming in 5-7 days. I again cantacted them on wenesday December 22 and again spoke to mikey who told me that he had gone done personally to accounting and had them do a manual overide and that I would receive my money in 48 to 72 hours, I have yet to recieve my money and am tired of being lied to… I am going to my bank tomorrow to file the final paperwork for fraud and am lookinginto contacting the Utah attorney general’s office to find out about their consumer fraud laws there are and what action can be taken against the company. I have been more than understanding and am tired of being polite to people who will tell you anything just toget you off the phone. One thing for sure I will never use this company and make that I tell everyone that I know what a horrible experience I had. Hopefully I can inform and keep other from making the sme mistake that I made…

Daniel, So what your saying is you signed up, you agreed to the terms and conditions, you ignored the Shopping Cart that said 149.99 and now your complaining. Take some responsibility would you?

I signed up the same way as you did through a Promo page or special offer and the terms where more than clear. Its people like you that probably buy from walmart or target online and then complain to get your money back and make complaints just to get out of it. This is just as bad as one post talked about people who buy too big of a house and when the market collapse you blame the loan officer for approving the home loan

Do you work for Bidmacs. I called the day after my bank was charged for $149.99 and told them that I had made a mistake. they said they understood and would process a refund. I did not make any bids and have no bid credits. You explain that one.

I signed on with bidmacs on 11/26/10 and, after using 82 bids, decided I (@age 80) was not up to this activity. I called customer support, and, after waiting a long time, spoke with a man who promised a refund on my unused purchased bids (168) worth $100.80. No refund to date although I have emailed countless times and waited on phone over I hour without getting thru. Hopefully, bidmacs is now trying to correct such problems – Michelle sounds like she is trying.

I agree with everyone on this site as to the misleading promo from bidmacs.com. And I am one of those guy’s that will kick himself for a couple of months for being so ignorant. However, the promo and site were enticing and it got the better of me. The part that is still so frustrating is that I actually won a bid on a camera. After a bidding war I was the sole survivor not only once but twice (at least that was what the site seem to indicate); and both times new bidding started as if nothing happened. Their site also indicated that there was an immediate response for complaints submitted (still have not heard anything). I’m the type to lick his wounds and move on, but this is really bothering me, and it looks as if I am not alone. I e-mailed Michelle today, and I will see what happens (and I’ll keep you apprised). In the meantime I am looking into the claim made by the site that they have a working relationship with law enforcement auctions.

What are you talking about with law enforcement. I signed up as well and loved the site, I didn’t see anything like that on the promo page, the video was how to use the site and its the same video on the home page. So are you thinking of something else. For those who said they didn’t agree to the promo it was more than clear, it clearly said shopping cart and the price and on the first page I had to check a box that said I agree to the terms and conditions so i am confused about all the posts. I did try and get the link or promo again so i could sign up under a different account for the bonus bids but they discontinued the offer they said in the first week of December.

Yes please, could someone from Bidmacs respond. I like Bidmacs; it’s the only penny auction site where you can actually win something real. I know some people had bad experience but mostly not from the actual bidding experience but on the unexpected charges to their credit card. But for those who were ready to bid and save money, Bidmacs is the best. I hope Bidmacs learned from their mistake and would return soon. I can’t wait, been checking everyday and ready to bid.

I also am thoroughly at wits end with this affair. I was under the assumption that at some point there would be a big, blam!!..in your face normal transaction showinf I would have to pay $150.00….well, there wasn’t, I signed up for the promo to try it, not once was I ever given the option to just sample say 10.00 or 20.00 to try out this new auction site. sure, you can go and purchase after you are already a member for lower amounts, but this misleading promo deal has rubbed me wrong.

I at first was dismayed to see I was charged 150.00, but after some digging on their site I saw I could get a refund from any unspent bids. Since I had bid 4-5 times, I was to get back almost all I was charged…no worries? Wrong! I have had my account since 11/25/10…it was just a few days later I noticed the charge. I have since called once or twice every week since then. It is now 1/17/11. I keep being told it’s taking them longer than expected to recieve my refund. I find it curious that in this day and age of super coding and near intantaneous online transactions that even the most backed up and understaffed company could still be taking this long. Now it is almost 2 months since my account has been active and almost the same amount of time since I requested, which was 12/4/10. I have already contacted my bank, who will continue to look into the alleged fraudulent activity. Next step is contacting some legal counsel on web based enterprises.

This is not good business practice….

I too have been trying to get a refund since december 15 when I talked to employee ID# 5125. My account was cancelled and I was given a confirmation number for my refund of $149.99. I gave a little bit more time due to the holidays, but still have nothing. I then called on January 6th and talked to employee ID# 5009 and was told the account is still deactivated, but that she did not know why I didn’t get a refund and was resubmitting the request. It is now January 20th and I still have nothing. I have called multiple times and their line now goes straight to a voice mail and I have left multiple messages along with emails to their support network and “michelle” with no avail. I just realized that my assumed “free bids” upon sign-up free membership were charged to my account without even be notice! Also I search the website for contact information than I called the phone number but no one answered it. I am shocked at how they charge an account without permission! It is criminal they charged people from their account without authorization. It is big scammed and fraud. Maybe I should report to the BBB…

How this company is still operating when their behavior and trade pattern clearly shows that it is a fraudulent company. I have been promised over last three months since November 2010 that refund of surprising $149 fee charged on the name of free account is coming and expedited. It has not happened. Initially you could contact 1877-364-9217 quickly and customer service rep. were always very polite and nice and would give an impression that you would receive the refunds soon. In last one month, it was very hard to reach them and I got successful only once after on hold for more than 45 minutes. Now if you call, it directly takes you to the voice mail. Isn’t it suspicious? My next step is complaining to BBB and post it on youtube to see the world that they should not be tricked by this scam.

It’s really unfortunate that so many people have had bad experience with bidmacs. I have had nothing but good luck with bidmacs. I reached my win limit of 7 wins in just 2 weeks and they shipped them all except the last 2 ipads that I won. I called them and they always said they’ll be shipped soon next week or even tomorrow but a week later, they were still not shipped. A month went by and then I was surprised with an email from them about my credit card being credited for over $1k. I didn’t know what it was for, I contacted them and got no answer. Then after doing the math, it turned out to be the cost of 2 ipads and the remaining bids I have in my account. I want my ipads but got the cash which is much better than trying to sell them on ebay. There was a time when I called and got a hold of somebody and while chatting with him found that they were overwhelmed by quite a few stolen credit card cases which turned out to be very common issue faced by penny auction site. They are very friendly as some of you may have found out but maybe their inexperience in running such business is the problem.

I like bidmacs, i was hoping they would survive; it is the only penny auction site where you have real chance to win. But it looks like today, the site is gone for good. The company is probably gone too. I think the badly designed promotional site that mistakenly charged people $149 was one of the culprits. I was ready to bid so it wasn’t a problem for me but this should have been clearly stated.

Michelle or other folks at bidmacs; if you guys reopen penny auction site again under different name, PLEASE DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME, and do contact me. I’m sure you have my email. I can’t wait to bid again.

I just want to say I think bidmacs has scammed me, on 12/3/10 there was a withdraw from my acct of 149.99, I called on 12/3/10 regarding this withdraw and was told I would have a refund within 7-10 days after the 10th day. I reached out and spoke with Bob who stated he was aware of the issue and promised me this would be handled as top priority (well guess what, no refund) I have spoken with Michelle & Bob twice. After my patients has worn thin I requested to speak with the manager at the corporate office. His name is Kory whom assured me that I will have my money within 30 days. It’s now past 30 days and the phone# 877-364-9217 will only allow you to leave a msg. This my stomach in knots, because this was funds I couldn’t afford to lose. He said it was a mistake and my refund would be in my account in 3-10 business days. No refund!! Spoke to “Michelle” two weeks later and was told it was processing. No refund!! Spoke to a man on the 7th of January 2011 and was told they were in the process of refunding all of Decembers charges. No refund!! I have been calling everyday since, no answer or returned phone call. Sent emails, no replys. Now the website is vanished. Like all of the above I had made the mistake of signing up for Bidmacs. There website clearly stated a full refund. A refund, like many of you, I did not get. I am happy the site is no longer there and now I doubt that I will ever get my refund from 11/2010. So to those of you at Bidmacs: “Rodney,” “Tory,” and “Cory,” Karma is a bitch! Shame on you! Time and effort is worth something. I think that all of us persuing our refunds should also be supplemented for the time spent attmpting to get our money back.

My experience is the same in November, and I’m the imbecile that was looking for the quick win Christmas prize and a couple of free bids and ended up not using any bids but getting charged $149.00. I was promised a refund within 10 days and have called every week since then. ‘Even talked to actual people on the customer service lines that were able to call up my complaint and records for an “approved” refund that never processed. That’s too much money just to ignore, but caveat emptor.

Lawsuit seriously! They are out of business.

Question I have is why, I loved the site and won multiple items and got every single one of them. I also talked to there verification department on the 7th of December and they told me they were not going to be adding any new customers, and when i asked why, he said that they got killed on buy it now items with fraudulent cards. This sucks cause since then i have tried 4 other sites and I cant win anything but giftcards for 25 bucks at the most and i bought multiple bid packs. I am seeing so many pop up and getting frustrated, I wish bidmacs would come back but i can see why they wont after reading so many people complain when they signed up like me and just because you didnt win you want to dispute or chargeback is just crazy, i should charge back all 15 charges i have made on the other sites like bidcactus and big deal and new sites, they all suck!! I am quitting penny auctions

Bidmaster sounds as if they lied to you! I went to the website on Dec 9, 2010 within 10 min of being on the site I called them & wanted my money back as they never said they would charge my card 149.99 they told me numerous stories as to when I would get it back. So to me it doesn’t sound as if they are out of business if they are still taking peoples money, or maybe they are the ones commiting the fraud. Plus why is there number still in service if they are out of business.
So I think bidmacs is just of a sucky site as all the rest.
& this Michele who has replyed to others has fallen off the face of the earth.

On Nov. 26, 2010 I purchased $150.00 worth of bids. I kept the order confirmation as proof. Later, I guessed that it would take an act of God to win any of these auctions. After placing 8 bids, I called the company and spoke to a Michele and requested a refund on my unused bids. She informed me it would take 7 to 10 business days to get my refund. Long story short, after numerous calls and e-mails and speaking to a Tory (Michele’s supervisor???) I still have not received my refund of $145.60.

I’ve been trying since Dec 1st to get my “approved” refund back. Rustin, Rosario, Bob, Jill (supervisor), Misty and Corey (supervisor) have all said my refund was approved and just waiting to be processed (3-5 days, 5-7 days, etc.) because their merchant account had a refund limit on the amount per day they could process. I even was given a confirmation #. I last spoke to Misty on 1/10/11 and, once again, was told my refund was ready to be processed. I’ve had to leave voicemails since and of course, no one is calling me back. I went to my bank to fill out a “disputed charges” form and was told that unfortunately, I had only 60 days to file a complaint with VISA and I was 4 days too late. Therefore, no help from VISA. Count me in if there’s a class action suit being put together!

I have the same story as evryone else. Bidmacs charged my card for 149.99 and 35.00 dollars. I never even get the chance to use any bids. I called them and asked for a refund and they said I will be credited back in 5-7 business days. Guess what it’s now February and I have not received a dime. They are scammers, and shame on them for doing this to alot of people. I hope they all get arrested!!!!!!

I too am still waiting or my refund since December which also i was told four seperate times and numerous calls later i should be receiving. Well i never did and I did file a complaint with the BBB as of today 02/14 they have closed the case due to the complaint being unanswered. If anyone does file a lawsuit i am in also companies like this need to understand you just cannot do this to consumers and get away with it. I would also suggest everyone file a complaint with the BBB so it is on their file so the next person is aware of this company.

If you call 1-801-617-1300 & ask for Michelle she will help you out, but let me tell you she wasn’t an easy person to get a hold of.
She did tell me my best bet was to file with my bank it would be easier for me to get my money back & they wouldn’t dispute it.
So hopefully my bank will get it taken care of, being as I wasn’t having any luck.

Tried that number and whoever answers the phone now claims “Michelle” is no longer there and that the only way to get the money back is to try to contact the bank and dispute the charges. Thanks anyway!

Same story here. After repeated assurances I would get my money back – and nothing. I disputed the charge with my bank and the bank did give me credit for the full amount.

I have had the same experience as many of those above. I would be ready and willing to join a lawsuit if one is entered. I paid $18.00 (knowingly), and $149.99 (unknowingly). I entered the information for the $18. and it popped up again asking for verification, which I stupidly entered. It appears as though this was their way of scamming another chunk of money out of unsuspecting people. I too was told that I would receive a refund of the $149.99 from both Tristan and John. What a bunch of crap! I hope they all go to HELL-literally! I am an honest person and when I get duped, it really makes me cranky!

I am posting along the same lines as everyone else, waiting for that refund. I disputed the charge with my Bank (Chase) and they researched it and got all sorts of BS paperwork back from bidmacs saying it was an authorized charge. The money that Chase credited me for the claim was reversed. Chase tells me there is nothing else they can do, and I am trying to figure out some other way to contact them.

We all need to get together on this and figure out some way to get back at them, whether they are now out of business or not.

Well, I thought I was in this boat alone with not getting a promised refund from BidMacs ( $149.99 ). My situation started back on 12/03/2010 and have been told numerous times that my refund is in process. Stupid us that believed them and didn’t file a grevience before the bank’s 60 day limitation ran out. I’m chaulking this one up to lesson well learned !!!

Add me to the list of people who were scammed. It is my first experience of dealing w/a company who never had an intention of following through w/refunding the money they grabbed w/o permission. I listened to their promises and the time has passed to dispute the charge. I should have made the call to my bank before I phoned their 877#.

I too got scamed by Bidmacs for $149.99. Thought it was like Ebay, put in account info for later purchase, but was surprise when my account was charged. No luck trying to get credit through my bank, they give only 60 days to dispute charges….now its 5 months later. How can I be a part of the lawsuit against this company?
