Penny Auction FashionBay to Shut Down Soon

by Amanda Lee on August 24, 2011

fashion bay shut down penny auction for handbagsYet another penny auction site for designer handbags, accessories and gift cards will be shutting down on September 9th, 2011.

What does this penny auction shutdown mean for bidders?

As a result of the shut down FashionBay has lifted win limits, but you need to make sure that you use all of your bids before they close.

FashionBay sent us the official shutdown notice:

“At this time, Fashion Bay executive management has elected to
cease offering auctions effective 9-9-11 and there are no plans to
resume auctions in the near future. The Fashion Bay penny
auction web site will be closed and, after that date, Fashion Bay
will be on an indefinite sabbatical.”

Do you have experience bidding on this fashion oriented penny auction site? If so, join our forum right now and post a review to inform other penny auction bidders.

I personally won a few nice items from FashionBay including a few designer hand bags (including authentic Louis Vuitton and Gucci), jewelry and a few gift cards.

Over the past few months I’ve observed their items end with what appeared to have been a significant loss to the company; a select few bidders won the majority of their high-dollar hand bag items. Unfortunately yet another penny auction site that provided excellent service, in my opinion, will soon be out of business.

Remaining items up for bid include Kate Spade, Coach, Kooba, Cole Haan, Linea Pelle purses, gift cards and a Gucci wallet. Use your bids up before FashionBay shuts down.

Perhaps you were an affiliate for FashionBay and not a bidder, their affiliate program will be discontinued on 8/31.

Again, win limits have been lifted on FashionBay.com in case you want to bid to win over the 4/month restriction.
