Happy Labor Day from Penny Auction Watch

Electrical Worker - Laborer“It is only through labor and painful effort, by grim energy and resolute courage, that we move on to better things.”– Theodore Roosevelt

“[We believe that unions have always been about much more than the industries in which they operate.] The fight is never about grapes or lettuce, … It is always about people.”

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”- Cesar Chavez, activist and labor organizer.

Happy Labor Day to our U.S. readers! I hope you are enjoying a day off and the last few days of summer.

What is Labor Day?

Labor Day, always the first Monday in September, is a yearly national tribute which celebrates the creation of the labor movement (1882) as well as the social and economic achievements of American workers.- the US Labor Department

“The labor unions represent solidarity among the working classes, bringing people together across many professions to lobby for better rights, wages and benefits.

In addition to monitoring and reporting exploitative working conditions, unions are also important in allowing employees to effectively bargain for their wages and to provide a support system for an employee should he or she suffer from any discrimination at work. Unions provide a check against employers who attempt to encroach upon the rights of workers.” –How Labor Unions Work

Let’s take a moment to thank and honor the hard working men and women who have contributed to the growth of North America.

The individuals running shady penny auctions should take a lesson from true, honest, hard working laborer. There are unethical penny auction owners who they have been,  and still are, attempting to rip off the very hard working men and women who have contributed much to society.

“Big Pete” Ramagos, rigger at work on dam (TVA) Douglas Dam, Tenn.

When you drive down the road think about the laborers who built not only your car (United Auto Workers), but those who work long hours in the hot sunlight or freezing cold to maintain the roads you drive on, bridges and dams you drive over (International Brotherhood of Teamsters).

As you walk into any building, skyscraper, court room, school, apartment, office building, etc., think about the men and women who put their time into giving you a roof over your head, a place to work, study, and live (Teamsters & United Steel Workers).

When you enjoy food and healthcare think of The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.

You can even thank the UNITE HERE labor union for the clothes you wear (if made in the USA), airports, hotels, restaurants and casinos you visit.

Whenever you get your mail (hopefully it includes a few fun penny auction wins) think about the American Postal Worker’s Union.

While you watch a movie you can thank the Screen Actor’s Guild.

The National Education Association may be thanked for the education that you and your children have received.

As you can see, so much in our industry can be attributed to labor workers.

In light of all that labor workers have given us I’ve always been fascinated by work done by laborers. Especially the men and women who have worked to  build skyscrapers. The Foshay Tower in Minneapolis, the second tallest concrete building after the Empire State Building was built with union labor in a once non-labor city.

If you’re ever in Chicago don’t miss visiting the 100-story John Hancock Building and the tallest building in North America, 110-story Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sear’s Tower). Both skyscrapers were built by many labor workers.

I can’t help but be amazed by the fortitude and even bravery of the many workers, especially iron and steelworkers, who actually risked their lives to build such great structures.

So take a moment to remember and thank labor workers who have contributed so much of what we enjoy on a daily basis!

Maybe you already know about the problem. Sexual dysfunction can be a result of a physical condition. Even when it has a physical reason, psychological problems can make the disorder worse.
