Penny Auction Watch Victim of DDoS Attack, Again!

ddos attack hackerNearing the anniversary of our first DDoS attack, Penny Auction Watch was the victim of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack again today. Thankfully this time around we were able to get the site back quicker than we were last year as back in March of 2011 we were down over  2 days.

Recently, following news of the website MegaUpload being shut down websites of the Justice Department, Universal Music, the Recording Industry Association of America, the Copyright Department, BMI, and the FBI were all subjects of a DDoS attack.

In the past penny auction sites have also been attacked.

“DDoS is to the Internet what the Billy club is to gang warfare: simple, cheap, unsophisticated and effective,” said Rob Rachwald, Director of Security Strategy at Imperva to Security Week.

What is a Denial of Service Attack?

“In a denial-of-service (DoS) attack, an attacker attempts to prevent legitimate users from accessing information or services. By targeting your computer and its network connection, or the computers and network of the sites you are trying to use, an attacker may be able to prevent you from accessing email, websites, online accounts (banking, etc.), or other services that rely on the affected computer.”- Source US-CERT -United States Computer Emergency Readiness Teamhttp://www.us-cert.gov/cas/tips/ST04-015.html

So in this case an attacker targeted PennyAuctionWatch.com specifically.

It goes without saying… The penny auction industry is rife with malicious activity.

That’s why online pharmacies is becoming more popular over the last years. Well-known are remedies which are used to reduce inflammation caused by inflammation of the skeletal muscle etc. There were only few examples. Did somebody tell you about canadian generic Viagra? Maybe you yet know about the question. Sexual disfunction can be a result of a physical condition. Even when it has a physical why, psychological problems can make the disorder worse. Sex drive problems are so commonly a product of how you feel that there is slightly to that “headache” saying after all.

DDoSers made it a rough week for several webmasters I know glad you managed to handle this relevantly well.

Do you need any help or tips for the future? Maybe I could ask some of them how they prepared for a situation like this.

Really, were there others in this space that were attacked?
