Penny Auction Watch Drama Alert!

Ok, so over the course of the past three years that I’ve been running this website I’ve met a lot of really neat people, learned a lot more about people, saved a lot of people from getting ripped off by the scam penny auctions (No, not all penny auctions are scams), been interviewed by dozens of reporters, and also been called a number of things that I don’t think I ever would have had I not embarked on blogging about well, penny auctions.

Just a brief recap:

Never before have I been called what I was just called today.

Today, I received an e-mail from none other than “JoeHall,” a new forum member who uses a Russian Yahoo e-mail account.

Amanda Lee the Porn Star – Penny Auction Whiz – Very Sophisticated Scammer

I was called a porn star and sophisticated scammer right in the same e-mail, by get this, a person who wants “in” on the management of Penny Auction Watch. Reminds me of someone…

Sorry bud, your application? Denied.

I’d like to thank my parents for their due diligence in investigating to find that the name they chose for their child would someday be shared with that of a girl who would one day become a porn star.

This one takes the cake!

Read the e-mail and let me know what you think…

The following message was sent to you via the Penny Auction Watch – Penny Auctions Forum Contact Us form by Joe Hall ( mailto:joehalllove@yahoo.ro ).

——————————–

Let’s cut to the chase, you guys are smart. This includes ‘Amanda Lee’ the pornstar blogger / penny auction wiz.

I know about how you function, and I admit you do a very very good job at keeping yourselves a third party. I saw through it, but it’s probably because I’ve got experience in what you are doing.

Anyways, I feel that since I do know (If I get a bullshit response that you don’t know what I’m talking about or no response at all.. I’ll likely just tell some people about it who are less friendly to scammers (even very sophisticated ones like yourselves.)

If you are scared of me showing this or tracing the header, or whatever paranoid thing you may come up with… that’s understandable. Feel free to proxy up and send from an anonymous e-mail and be very vague.

My offer is that in exchange for hush hush secrecy, I want in on the project.

Let me know, I can actually help in terms of organizing, managing forums, etc.

Joe Hall

“Joe” also graced us with a forum comment:pennyburners-penny-auctions-forum

“The problem with vigilante web justice is that there’s also vigilante web retribution. Some people have disagreed with the way that Lee has curated the stream of information about penny auctions. Take this comment from a blogger under the alias Gertrude, who posted some comments on a blog called Exposing Penny Auction Watch that seems to have been set up just for that purpose…”- Wired Magazine’s Wired.com.

How’s that for a response?

That’s why online pharmacies is becoming more popular over the last years. Well-known are remedies which are used to reduce inflammation caused by inflammation of the skeletal muscle etc. There were only few examples. Did somebody tell you about canadian generic Viagra? Maybe you yet know about the matter. Sexual malfunction can be a result of a physical condition. Even when it has a physical why, psychological problems can make the disorder worse. Sex drive problems are so commonly a product of how you feel that there is something to that “headache” saying after all.

Yes, we got the same email. Must’ve BCC’d all of us. When Nick emailed him back, this guy replied saying that all of us are operating under assumed identities and that he knows this as a “fact”. He also says that we don’t even live in the United States, that we all operate numerous sites not affiliated with penny auction sites, AND that we run all of the penny auction sites.

    Laughable, right?

I can personally attest that Amanda IS a real person, and that she is NOT a “pornstar” OR a “sophisticated scammer”. We may not agree on many things, but I think it’s despicable that someone would even make that accusation.

I wouldn’t give this guy too much attention; seems to be what he wants.

Amanda, I’ll send you the exchange that I’ve had with “Joe”.

I don’t care if you post them, but I do not want to promote this guy’s behavior.

I do think it is concerned-me from MyWOT, and wonder why he stopped responding to me on your thread: http://www.mywot.com/en/forum/19994-pennyauctionwatch-com

While I do think that our differences help prove that there is no cooperation between us in any way, I do think it would only do both of us, and the industry, good by resolving whatever issues remain.

    -With gratitude,
    Nicholas Boccio

    O.o that’s quite a random causation or a rather clumsy compliment…
Did he by any chance specify what cheese did he wanted to cut?
what if he was talking about the porn star bit and all the guy wants is some autographed movie dvds and a poster =D

What an unsettling message to receive from a stranger. One of the most comical ways to ask for a job though. I would just like to say thank you. This website has been an amazing source of genuine journalism. It has led me through the penny auction world and has not led me down a crooked path yet. If Mark Cuban says yes to penny auction model that will change the industry for the best (stemmed from an anger for all of the scamming, although a good thing is your job came from scams). I will credit the knowledge received about the industry solely to your website and committed passion to helping people not get scammed on what could be a fun game to play while upgrading your lifestyle.
Thanks again and keep up the great work,

Thank you Gary, I truly appreciate your comments. I wonder what Mark Cuban thinks, I do know he funded a startup that used to be a penny auction but is now an e-commerce/retail deal site. That would be interesting. I try my best, but it’s not really a job, though it does involve a lot of my time. Thank you I will take a look at your facebook.
