We recently had the pleasure of interviewing Zondra Dunaway, founder of CowboyBidz.com, to share more info about this site with you.

My name is Zondra Dunaway and I’m the owner of CowboyBidz.com. CowboyBidz is a small family owned and operated business. We’re located in Trinity, Texas. (Where’s that? It’s a little over a hundred miles north of Houston).
What influenced you to open CowboyBidz?
I was as an accountant for the Texas Prison System for many years. After I retired, I started searching for my next career opportunity. I did a lot of research before I made the decision to open an Entertainment Shopping website. I visited numerous auction sites, forums and watchdog sites. There were so many complaints of slow shipping, poor customer service, deception, overloaded servers and an obvious lack of any type of personal touch, I thought to myself, “I can do better than that”. And that’s exactly what I plan to do.
How do you envision the future?
Our ultimate goal is to be a small, stable, reliable company that’s known for its honesty and fairness. We don’t want CowboyBidz to become a huge impersonal business. It’s important to us that we know the members of CowboyBidz for who they are, not just by their member number.
Unfortunately, this industry is notorious for its low success rate. We urge the Penny Auction/Entertainment Shopping community to give us the opportunity to prove that we’re worthy of their patronage. We promise to do our part, by giving our members the top quality service they expect and the respect they deserve. It would be a shame for any of us to miss this opportunity. We have so much to offer, but we can’t do it without the support of the community.

Tell us about your auctions.
Our first auction was held on October 22, 2011. Auctions start each Saturday night at 7:00 central. At this time, our main auction items are $10.00 eGift Cards and we allow the winner to choose which gift card they would like to receive. Auction items are sent out shortly after the payment is processed. Auctions run every 15 minutes, with a 20 second timer and the purchase price increases 1¢ for each bid.
There are several ways to win on CowboyBidz. Recently, we had letters attached to auction items and players won $50 Gift Cards by collecting letters that spell, HAT and GUN. Members earn one token for every item they win and one token for every item they purchase with our 100% Buy it Now option. Each token represents one opportunity to win the featured “Thank You Gift”. Our current Thank You Gift contains two Foscam Wireless IP Cameras with a msrp of $299.90. The impartial awarding of the gift allows the casual bidder to have the same odds of winning as a power bidder. We like the thought of everyone having a fair chance to win the higher valued items.
Is there any special reason for naming your site CowboyBidz?
Oh, yes! The name CowboyBidz, the black hat and the cowboy riding the horse are all inspired by my late-husband, Jimmy. (It wasn’t preplanned, but our first auction ended up being held on his birthday). He’s been gone three years, this week. He was the kindest person I ever knew and he was, “My Cowboy”. He made me promise that I’d move on with my life. He said I had to, because I had so much to offer the world.
Well Cowboy……I’m trying.
