Jump or be jump is part of the game. Nothing to watchout for. With more and more bidders everyday, don't expect jumping to lower. People bid to win item at a very low price, not to make friends. Without jumpers, PA sites would never make any money.
David
The auction we were bidding on was worth around x me and the other guy spent about x bids each he easily made x before x jumped in.

I agree with David. Jumping happens all the time and its not illegal. I'll admit it's frustrating, but that's part of the game. Are you thinking that if we see your name on an auction, we should just let you have the item? BTW, there is no such thing as "your auction" until it says "ended" and you are on top. A strategy I've used is to jump in early just to let people know I'm around and then watch until several people have bid for awhile. I figure "let them waste their bids. I'll save mine until later in the game." I feel it's a little more courteous that way. However, if I've "made myself known" early, people who come in later...after I've come in again...may consider me a jumper. I don't consider that jumping.
I also have been wondering about "jumping". I understand that it is considered rude by people, however......
If I see a bunch of people or even 2 bidding like crazy and I know that this is going to go on and on and on, why would I get in there and waste a bunch of bids while these others are going after each others throats? Why would I not try to win after most of them are tired of trying to bid everyone off?
If I were to look at the sites that I play on and see all "stamps" made by people and be "warned" off, I would never win anything. After all are we not on the site to try and win something for a good price? Is that not part of the Strategy?
Please don't think that I know it is frustrating. I have been on an item that I really wanted from the beginning and had people come in late and it is frustrating, however, I don't blame them for wanting to win also, but I would never post their name on a forum for people to hate. I have played against Khangski many times and found him/her to be a very savy bidder.
If I see something I want now, I throw a few bids in from time to time to let people know I am there and then when the traffic thins down I will see if I can win it. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. But it is all part of the process. Also I have to admit, that if I see a Powerbidder or I see someone that has been on an item for a long time, I usually wait until the item comes up again to bid and leave that auction alone. I don't WANT to lose all my bids for nothing.
Also, I am fairly new at this and my reasoning might be totally flawed!
Nancy: I think your reasoning is perfectly correct! I use this reasoning also...and I believe a lot of the more experienced PBers use it also. You have a great attitude. It sure doesn't pay to get angry at the jumpers. You've got to figure it's just part of the game and one of the hazards of being a PBer! If you can't deal with it...you shouldn't be doing this! Happy bidding!
Oh.....and, startover4, don't name the jumper to try to get others to gang up on him/her. That's a big no-no! You can be banned from here for doing that!![]()
