Hi, does anyone have any info on this auction site? I'm thinking of giving it a try. Thanks, Hoop

This is a legit site and I have received all my items. It depends on what you want to do. In this site if you loose an auction you have a chance of buying back the item by using the bids you used in that auction.that is the best part. But on the other side your chances of winning something at 95% of face value is rare but loosing more than 20% of the value is impossible (unless you want to do that by not buying the item for which you already spent the bid). This is the site which offer a same level to both big bidder as well as average bidder. I think this should be the "trainee/apprentice" site before you trying out other big one.

their bidpacks have price between 10 cents to 15 cents per bid. Assuming you purchase their lowest bidpack at 15cents per bid and use 200 bids on a $50 gift card and you lost that. After the auction ended for next 30 minutes you have the option of buying the same gift card for $50-200*.10 = $30. While calculating the rate per bid they calculate it at 10 cents per bid even thou you may have paid 15 cents per bid. So in this case you loose only $5 for that auction where as if you compare to all other auction site you loose the whole amount you spend on bid.If you buy their largest bid pack which are offered at 10 cents per bid your loss will be zero. But the catch is bid on auction which you are planning to buy in the case you lost that ..
They are having a netbook for today.

The other catch is don't forget that you can buy the item. I got frustrated and realized after the window to buy my gift card had passed that i could've still bought the card.

This is most important if you don't want to loose 100%. You have to buy the item within 30 minutes. They have a deals tab where you can clearly see how much the winner paid and exact savings they made (unlike other site except bidrodeo where they don't take into count the amount you spend on bids as if they are free). Their win limit is very good as well (3 per week). Also big player can scare you other wise they will loose more by winning the auction as compared to you loosing that auction.I saw one user spend $75 on a $25 target card to win an auction where as others who lost that auction buy the card at its face value - discount on bids spend. Thats why I love this site.

Hi, I studied some other auction sites as well as this forum, and I think that winning nearly auction, if possible, is the #1 strategy. Does this strategy change with Bidblink because of the bid credit within 30 minutes? In other words, once you get close to cost on the auction, should you just stop and purchase it? If so, then reputation on this site isn't the be all to end all? Thanks, Hoop

    Default BidBlink

I just wanted to let you guys know that I just added 6 small auctions for Wednesday, Oct 28 to BidBlink. These are in addition to our 8 standard auctions. These small auctions are 10 dollar amazon gift cards and 40 Free Bid packs. The hope is that the big players won't bid on these, and new players can have an easier time winning auctions. Hope you guys like it!

    Best,
    Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, this is hoop50. Do you have any comments on the posts I made? I think I will be joining your site soon, as soon as I study a bit more. :-) Thank you, Hoop

Hi again, since Bidblink only allows us to win 3 auctions per week, is it still worth it to bid on bidpacks? Thanks, Hoop

    hoop50,

I assume by "strategy #1" you mean, "Keep on bidding no matter what, so I get a reputation as someone who never backs down." On BidBlink, that strategy still (seems) to work, from my observations. But like you said, it's not the only strategy. Honestly, from the perspective of someone running a penny auction site, it hurts to see people significantly overpay. I want to give out as many great deals as possible, which is why we added the Buy it Now feature.

So in other words, you'll have to balance getting a reputation vs getting the best deal you possibly can by using the buy it now feature when the time is right. I think its also possible to employ a mix of strategies. Sometimes build your rep, and other time, stop spending money and just Buy it Now.

Regarding your second question of whether it's worth it to bid on bidpacks: Again, it depends on you and your goals :-). By bidding on bidpacks, and buying now if you lose, you basically get a chance to get more bids at little downside. Of course, if u want many Gift Cards as fast as possible, bidding on bid packs isn't the fastest way to do that. Hope that helps

    Best,
    Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, thanks for the nice reply. I didn't realize I could also 'buy now' with bidpacks; that adds a new twist. I think I'm about to bite the bullet and join. I'm new at this and my first outing wasn't too hot. So I'm trying to decide whether to buy 1000 bids or 5000 bids. The advantage of the 5000 bid package is once the price hits zero, then you are at break even point and can't lose anymore (assuming I win); the disadvantage is it's 500 bucks!!! :-) Bidblink looks good to me and the forum seems to like it too. See you at the site, Hoop

I really like this site. I can go after things I am going to spend money on anyway and possibly get a deal or just pay the price I would pay anyway. To me it's a win win situation. I have been observing this forum and multiple auction sites for a month now and I think BidBlink is one that I will have my go at. By the way is the Bid2Win on BidBlink the real one? I think it's Bid2Win1. Just wondering! I have seen so many Bid2Wins and variations of the name around. One popped up on BidCactus today.

Are you guys enjoying the smaller auctions ($10 GC's and 40 free bid packs) in between our normal sized auctions?

    Let me know :-)

I have won both a $10 card and a 40 bid pack. It gets you used to the site and the feel of things and gets a person's feet wet. The bids are nice but after you pay for shipping on the card you don't really get the deal you want especially if you put a few bids in. But it is nice for a start.

I see your point with the shipping on the 10 dollar GC. I'll reduce the shipping to 99 cents.

what do you mean buying back the bids, buying the item minus the bids you put in, that would be really cool

Yes thats how it is there and I keep on saying that this is the best site .Please note that while calculating the bid discount they take 10 cents per bid (based on their highest bid pack price) and it is possible that you may bought their lowest bidpack (which costs around 15 cents) .Still its a cool deal and 'win-win' for all.

I just wrote an article on BidBlink's blog concerning scams in our industry. You might want to check it out.

I can vouch for Bidblink too. I've won a Nano and several gift cards. They shipped VERY quickly for me it's usually a 3-4 day turn around after payment. I LOVE this site!:biggriny:

On bidblink last night, someone (sorry, forgot the name) easily placed about or close to 5,000 autobids trying to win a netbook. He had so many people against him from the very beginning. The netbook went into the negative -$105.62. When he finally exhausted his bids, someone came in and won it for about 700 bids. What hurts is that this person that won it not only got ALL his bids back but because it was $105.62... he actually got more, he got credited 1057 bids back PLUS since the netbook was in the negative, he didn't end up owing anything for it other than the $15.00 shipping fee. I just wanted to say, if that guy that lost last night reads PAW, then know that my heart goes out to you. I know we sometimes go bid crazy, lose our heads, it's all a risk, yada, yada but still, so sorry...

Awwwwww and see this is why that site scared me. I think its great you can buy things and I hope that guy that put in thousands of autobids took advantage of the buy it feature (unlike me who always forgot). But people have such incentive to go insane since it'll go into the negative and I just financially don't think I could compete.

That's true Angel, he had the "buy it" option and that lessens the sting. Thank goodness it happened on bidyell where that option is available. You can buy a whole lotta bids for little money, but so can everyone else and competition can be just as fierce as everywhere else so it's great that they have extra perks. I'm completely ambivalent about swooping in at the last minute, it just depends on the situation.. last night was not the night to do it. Anyway, I wish PP had the "buy it" and "get bids back" option .

I was watching that netbook auction too and glad for bidblink.I think they are loosing a lot of money .Just look at their deals page and lot of items are finished without getting to negative territory and people are winning a canon A480 camera with just one bid (ie 10 cents). I think the buy it now make the things attractive there. All previous netbook auction were sold before the price hit negative. Atleast in this site everyone can be a powerbidder and that could be a loss too as demonstrated in yesterday's auction.

I am located in california bay area, where bidblink is based and in my case i received my card in a week.So I would say at most it will take 10 days based on my experience.there is a history tab in "my account" where you can see when they shipped the card.

I watched that auction and was amazed at was going on. It is hard for me to feel bad for the guy who spent 5,000 bids though. I can understand on other sites where it is all or nothing, but that is what makes bidblink so great.

He could have minimized his loses by only going to 4000 bids, where he would have been able to apply all those bids (.10 each) to the cost of the netbook, getting it for $0 + shipping. Maybe he was trying to prove a point, but it is hard to figure out what that was.

    Hi there,

We ship Amazon cards via physical mail, not email. We know that email would be a very good idea, and it's in our list of things to do! So many things in the list, so little time.

So, you should expect the Amazon card in a few days in your (physical) mail box.

Second, we've had a brief problem with shipping out packages, during which we didn't ship orders for 4 days. These issues have been resolved, and last night we placed hundreds of orders (literally) for products over the past few days. I apologize for these ordering issues. Our goal is to ship orders within a day of auctions ending, and for the most part we've succeeded in that, except for these past few days. But we're on track again now!

    Best,
    Jonathan

There is a $50 walmart card running for around 5 hours where as other auctions are getting finished in 5 minutes .I noticed that one bidder hoop55 constantly bid at 2 sec of timer for last 3 hours and thats the reason why the auction is running so long.I am surprised somebody to spend so much time unless they have some automated way of doing things..

Hi Rockybiduser, this is hoop55. I'm pretty new at this auction game, but right now I'm feeling pretty good; I just got noticed on PAW! :-) You aren't the only one that was surprised that Auction lasted so long. It actually went for about 7 hours. One thing I found out about these auctions; unless I'm willing to use autobid at any time, which I'm not, I've got to remember to make a trip to the restroom just before the auction starts. I'll never forget again!!! First auction of the day at Bidblink, and it ended 2nd to last. I'm still trying to work out my strategy, but basically I try to not autobid, unless I have some reason to think it would end the auction real quick. I just tend to nag the autobidders. They go at each other for awhile, then one quits, then at 2 sec I jump in again. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Actually I only lost $3.39 on that auction; I should have just used the buy now option about 6 hours sooner. Later, Hoop
