Hmm I don't know, I guess you'd just have to try it and see how it goes.

The diva your daughter auction is a cute idea!

Just curious... why label items Kate, Baylee, Hallie, Brenna Diva etc... why not just label the items what they really are like Juicy, Kate Spade, etc. ? Granted it's cute, if they're family members' names, but it seems less work for everybody if you just name them outright, at first glance.

We make up names for each product to add some fun and flare. No family names just yet, but I'm sure there will be a few! Let's make a game out of it - guess which auction of the week is a family member name and get 3 free bids - PAW members only (one guess per user)!

Travis will add the actual product name as a subheading on all displays for ease of reference. If you still think it is a problem, we may reconsider, but for now the Divas will live on...

On another note - question for everyone...since the time is so fast (well, not really fast, just actual), do you think it makes sense to increase the time by 20 seconds instead of 10 just in case there are lag problems?

NO, I'm a big fan of ACTUAL time. Do not mess with that. When you sign up and buy bids on a site that tells you 10 seconds will be added to the clock when a bid is placed then you need to REALLY mean 10 seconds. Not 10 seconds plust 3 seconds of "last chance" plus 2 seconds of a timer on all zeros and then more bids come in.

I have gotten to the point with pennypurses and the last chance button staying up forever and the zero clock and you think you've finally won only to have a bid come in during all that time that last chance and zeros were showing and that one bid adds 7 or 8 seconds to the clock when its supposed to add 10 seconds for each bid so that tells you that the auction was in fact over by 2 or 3 seconds but it let bids come in anyway. Especially on a site that gets as many bids as pennypurses does, they shouldn't have to do that. My patience with that mess is gone, I think I'll give them a rest for now.

With that being said, your stuff is cute but your bid prices are higher than almost any penny auction I've seen! Your direct competition is penny purses and max loren. Max Loren's bids are 60 cents each no matter how many you buy, pennypurses bids start at 70 cents each for the smallest pack and 65 cents each when you buy the biggest bid pack. You bids start at 91 cents each for the smallest bid pack and go up to 78 cents each for the 100 bid pack. I know you are donating to a great cause but the way to do that is not by having the highest price per bid around..if you want to donate to a cause I don't think you should have higher bids to absorb some of that donation...5 cents higher than the competition, maybe, but 20 cents higher than the competition people will think their bids will go further on another site. I would rather you have less expensive items and no 'glam bucks' than a higher per bid price, others may disagree but thats my 2 cents.

And finally, I agree with Ella james, I don't like the names of the items either. I don't have a baby so yesterday I went to look at your diva your daughter auction and I honestly didn't know if Baylee was the brand name or what. Maybe if you're set on giving it a name do that in the subheading but IMO the BRAND name should always be in the main title heading.

I love the diva your daughter and diva your dude themes, that is really cute! And I like the general layout of the site. Good luck with everything!

Thanks for all of the feedback. We want you to know we are listening and making adjustments based on the issues/concerns you raise, so...

    1. All auctions now have the BRAND name in the title; and
    2. On the pricing, I think it is important for everyone to note the following when thinking about the "value" of your bid:
    • Our auction timer is real-time: no added seconds at the end. This means that our auction prices will likely stay low and we will have less bids on an item than our competitors. So, which do you value more --- the timer or the price per bid?
    • Glam Bucks are a way for everyone to win. Each of your DivaDimes goes toward something even if you don't win the item. The SpaFinder gift certificate can be used at so many locations and even for products online.
That said, we will give the price reduction a try. If it doesn't work out, we will have to make adjustments. But, for now, DivaDime Bundle prices have been reduced as follows:
    • 10 DivaDimes = $8
    • 30 DivaDimes = $23
    • 50 DivaDimes = $36
    • 100 DivaDimes = $68
    • 300 DivaDimes = $189
We are taking a couple of nights off, but will have a fabulous Cole Haan clutch ending Thursday night. Pictures will be posted soon.

Yes, I agree with this, I mean you didn't have to lower your bid prices just because I said something, others may have a different view point about a reason for the price being so much higher and would make me come around to their way of thinking. But kudos to you for listening. I will hold up my end of the bargain as well, as soon as I log off here I will go buy a bidpack from you. I usually won't buy a bidpack from any site before hearing feedback from others who have won and received items from that site but I appreciate your being here and listening/chatting with us and I believe you will run your site honestly.

So, which do you value more --- the timer or the price per bid?
Actually, I value honesty above everything. If your auction or anyone elses states that it works by adding 10 seconds to the timer when a bid is placed then thats the way it should be! Fooling with the timer setting and adding time for more bids to come in while hiding the clock under a "last chance" button that stays up anywhere from 1 to 5 seconds is dishonest. Especially when you see sometimes that the clock is in fact at zero but more bids are still allowed thru. Even sites that use things such as "Going,...going...gone!" are better because that sequence is animated and never changes. A static button covering up the timer that can be adjusted to stay up for various intervals is dishonest, especially for a site that receives a ton of bids on their products. (Sorry, end rant.)

I'm excited about Thursday and excited to see a new player in the game. I hope you do well and continue to stay in touch with your members here on PAW.

I was thinking we might be too high anyway, so your thoughts just confirmed it. I came up with an idea to supplement...check out our new affiliate links going up tonight (after Trav gets home from school)...I am super excited about the other auction site that gives to charity!

BTW - all 3 items won so far have already been shipped out to the winners. Hopefully, we will get a testimonial (or 2) back soon!!

Me too! And I haven't forgotten about you, I'll buy bids before I got to bed tonight, promise.

Have you done any advertising yet? I don't know what you've done or thought of but pennypurses did most of their early advertising on craigslist, I'm sure it took them a while to submit all those ads to the craigslist for all those cities and they did it daily for a while but ... it might be a good place for you to start. Their listings were titled like "Authentic Coach Purses" and then had the website...I saw a couple but I don't remember exactly the wording but something like that.

    ME THREE!

I'm back from class (I'm taking a substitute teaching class to see if i would like a career change, electrical engineering just wasn't as rewarding as helping kids).

Ok, coupla things, I haven't added the affiliate links yet, but after much deliberation I have added a little button on the top menu bar so that you can turn it off if it gets into your way. Traci thinks it blocks stuff, and I think Traci is on crack.

I'm glad to see that you enjoy our customer service, 'cause I'm pretty much it. :D

    have a good night.

There's a suggestion for ya -- designer crack! I think a lot of bidders around here must use it the way they go crazy. It would probably be a hot item!

Hey Diva, just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgot about you...I'm having problems with adding a CC to my paypal, I went to add my bank account to it last night and am waiting on the test deposit to show up on my online bank info so I can confirm it and put some money in my paypal. Who knew it was so annoying to use paypal when you don't have cash in your paypal account?!

I've never had issues with adding credit cards to paypal. And you can speed up the process of verification with PayPal if you want. If you give them your id and login for your online bank account it verifies it within about a minute. Then you can just change your password if you want after its verified.

Hmmm I don't know about that. There aren't any auctions until tomorrow anyway, I think i can wait until my bank account shows it online, they keep things updated in real time or pretty close. I have no idea what the issue is with my credit card, I tried to add it the other day when I was wanting to buy bids for the netbook and it doesn't even explain it just says 'this credit card can not be used'. I haven't tried it again before last night but it said the same thing. I guess I'm gonna have to break down and call paypal and see what the deal is.

Hrm, I'm not sure about paypal, I've never had a credit card issue, but at least it's not a problem with us

And it's true, hopefully you'll be all verified by tomorrow's auction.

    That said!

    New auction listed!!!
It's our first purse so it's exciting. There's a write up about it, but I'll let you read that because I know next to nothing about purses. (I'll try to learn though, I promise).

Have a blast ladies! and bid bid bid! ;)

I know we are taking the night off (again), but it was well worth it...check out the new & improved photos of our current products up for auction.

I stink at taking pictures - but, Melinda (who you will meet soon, no doubt) is a natural!

gotta run...I've got my eye on a PP and I still have bids in my bank!

I am not happy. I had a future bidder set and it did not go off and therefore I lost. It would not let me bid saying I was a highest bidder. I am emailing you the auction when this happened. Please refund the bids I spent and relist this auction.

I am so sorry. We are looking into it right now. I watched the whole thing and thought it was very strange that you had only one diva valet set. We will get back to you very soon.

    Angel:

I thought I would just be able to chat if you became a fan, but apparently we have to be "friends" to chat...sorry. I don't think you want me invading your personal space, so let's just chat thru here. Thank you so much for sending the video - super helpful!!!

From what Travis can tell it appears (1) that your first diva valet worked fabulously well (the good news); (2) the "mouse over" misinformed you that you were the high bidder, but had you pressed the bid button, it would have worked; and (3) it is obvious that your second diva valet did not work properly. We are looking into why this happened, but that will probably take some time.

So, for now, what we will do is (1) refund all bids placed on the auction; (2) relist the item tomorrow nite; (3) delete the mouse over notice; and (4) suspend the diva valet feature until it is working properly. Tomorrow's auction will not have the diva valet.

We will not be taking back any of the Glam Bucks since this was such an inconvenience for everyone. Thanks for giving us a chance and being patient as we hit some inevitable speed bumps in the road to Glam!!!

    Traci
ps - I was rooting for you to win!!! DARN IT.

lol i waited a little too long to click I think. I had 2 or 3 seconds and I think it was just a little too late. I'm saving the video of the auction and I'll take a look at the end again but that was probably it

Ok after looking at the vid I'm almost positive that it was my own mistake that made me lose I thought Awesome would keep bidding so I waited a little longer htan usual and my click just didn't register. Awesome bid straight after me so I wanted to see if he'd go for Fortime if I didn't bid right away which I shouldn't have done. I'd say it was a fair win for the other bidder even though I really wanted it.

    What are your win limits?

Pretty good auction for a new site, I just went to look and see if our Angel won or if it was still going or what. I took a nap so didn't get to watch any of it, I still want to watch one to get familiar with the timing and the system but that was my last chance before something I want comes up LOL oh well! Is Fortime a PAW'er?

I will I even bought another bid pack which is not something I normally do. I was planning on quitting after another 10 bids or so anyway just because I'm not sure what else will be listed. I do appreciate that you guys are trying to be fair.

Not that I don't want you to bid on what is up right now, but we have tons of inventory --- kate spade, coach, michael kors, cole haan -- small, medium, and larger handbags!! And, we also have great jewlery from Kate Spade and Coach right now. We would love to know what you would like to see up for bidding. We have thought about expanding into perfumes - would that be of interest? We just entered into an affiliate relationship with beauty.com, so we can meet all of your glam needs!

Also, we did not want to put win limits in place too early because it might hurt our business, but we are going to reconsider since one person has one three auctions now (and we don't even have a darn testimonial to show for it).

OK, enough marketing. If we are out of touch for the next couple of days, its is not b/c we don't care...just have to spend time with the kiddos during Halloween - or my husband will make me shut this down. He is already upset about my recent spike in after-work computer time!

To be honest Traci if you don't put win limits up I won't bid until you do. I hate not having win limits. I adore Michael Kors purses and personally not too big into perfume but I'm sure many women are.

Anyway like I said please put win limits in place. It will hurt your business far more if you let people sweep the auctions. That's why I would have stopped bidding.
