    Default dime-divas

    Dear Penny Auction Watch Members:

We are so excited to tell you all about our new penny auction site www.dime-divas.com!! Dime Divas will offer brand new 100% authentic high-end fashion accessories for women, men, children & even pets! We call our bids “DivaDimes” and they will cost as little as 73 cents. Each bid placed increases the time by 10 seconds and the final purchase price by $.01. The last “Diva” standing when the timer reaches zero wins the item! Each day of the week is better than the next at Dime Divas…On Mini Mondays, we offer wristlets, clutches and small purses. On Tick-Tock-Tuesdays, we offer watches. On Wallet Wednesdays, all handbags come with a matching wallet. Thousand Dollar Thursdays is our most exciting day of the week since the auction items will have MSRPs over $1,000!! Flashy Fridays is for jewelry and Secret Saturday auctions will only be revealed after the price reaches $.25. Second Chance Sundays give rookie divas a second chance to win the one that got away! And, every once in a while, we will offer Diva Your Dude, Diva Your Daughter, and even Diva Your Dog auctions!

We officially open on Monday, October 26 and our first auction will end on Monday, November 2. Our first week of auctions will feature a Juicy Couture watch, a Kate Spade bangle bracelet & matching earrings, a Kate Spade wristlet, a Kate Spade handbag & matching wallet, and a Marni handbag that retails for over $1,600!!!! If we get enough users we might even throw out a Diva Your Dude or Diva Your Daughter Auction!!!

The most exciting news at Dime Divas is our Glam Bucks program!! Since glamming and losing (and even glamming and winning for that matter) can be quite exhausting, we want to reward our divas with some relaxation time on us! For every DivaDime placed, you will receive 10 Glam Bucks. Once you accumulate 5,500 Glam Bucks, you will receive a $50 SpaFinder gift certificate!! SpaFinder partners with over 4,000 spas in the US. And, if you cannot locate a spa near you, you can use the gift certificate at their sister site. SpaFinder is also offering Dime Diva members a free SpaFinder directory if you purchase a gift certificate from them. Just click on the link from our site and enter “Glam” as the promo code!

Sound good so far??? I sure hope so! But, out of respect for the expertise level of PAW members, please allow me to give you my 4 Cents on the Dime Divas business model:
    1. Credibility – We will be a business of integrity, honesty and the highest ethical standards. You have our word – no bots, no shills, not ever! We hope that partnering with a business like SpaFinder (which has been around for over 20 years) will help give you a sense of security in the early days, and we are confident that our commitment to integrity will shine through as we build our own reputation.

    2. Customer Service – We are small, but we are dedicated to excellent customer service. Our products are in stock and will be shipped within 2 business days of payment. All gift certificates are also in stock. All of our pictures are taken with “In Stock” designations so you will have no doubts! If you ever have a question, just email us at customerservice@dime-divas.com. We promise to respond as promptly as possible.

    3. Creativity – Penny auction sites are a dime-a-dozen (pun intended). We wanted to be unique. So, we created an entirely new vernacular – from Glamming… Glamming… Gone to DivaDimes to Glam Bucks, we want our site to be unique and fun. Our theme days will hopefully keep you coming back for more. And, in no time, you will be talking “Glam” right along with us!!

    4. Charitable Commitment – Fifty percent of every final auction price will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This Foundation has a special place in our hearts because close family members have benefited from their generosity. We are working with Make-A-Wish to post their links on our site as well so that our members can also get involved. While we endeavor to be profitable, we will not ignore our corporate social responsibilities.
We are in the final testing phases and making minor site tweaks here and there, but couldn’t wait to let the cat out of the bag to PAW members! Please take a gander and tell us what you think....and, don't forget to sign up! We know we have a bit more to do, but thought it best to get your input before opening day. We will start off slow – one or two auctions a day and no win limits. As we develop a membership, we will definitely impose win limits – it is just a question of when. We will look to you to help guide us. We also have some other great ideas in our pocket and will reveal them when the time is right!

Anyone who signs up this weekend will receive 7 free DivaDimes and 550 free Glam Bucks! You'll be 10% of the way to earning a $50 SpaFinder gift card! Act fast...on Monday, the sign-up bonus will not be as sweet. Reminder: please don’t bid on the auctions that are running since they are test auctions. But if your itchy clicker finger jumps the gun, feel free to email customerservice@dime-divas.com and you will be reimbursed before the ribbon is cut.

    Glam On!

    Default Technical Difficulties

    Hi Everyone:

Murphy's law, right....Just when we thought everything was going swimmingling...

We noticed a few folks sign up, but our system is not generating the activiate email. Please bear with us as we work thru this small glitch. Everyone who has signed up thus far has been awarded 7 DivaDimes and 550 Glam Bucks.

We will let you know via email as soon as the glitch is fixed. In the meantime, take a look around the site and let us know your thoughts!

    Kindest,

Those SpaFinder certificates are great...or at least my mother thinks so. I usually get her one every year. Since there seems to be like 5 million spas in NYC, she can try a different one each time.

I never saw the need for the (usually $8) Spa Directory thing because everything is online. Still, I'm sure it's certainly cool to page through if you are buying a gift cert. anyway...free stuff is always good!

Everything about the site seems well-thought out and creative. I'll definitely be checking it out. Best of luck!

Thank you caveninit!! We are very excited about the Make-A-Wish connection. I hope they approve our request to post their links and other information (It may take some time, since we had to fill out an application). If they do, we are going to do have some exciting offerings to encourage our members to make charitable contributions!

Did you look at the site? What do you think? I am dying for feedback....

Thanks ZackM!! Appreciate the kind words. We still have some edits to make, but we are nearly there...My brother (Dime-Divo) has been working night and day to Glam up the site so he will be pleased to read your comments!

I'm all signed up, good luck. You have some cute stuff coming up and I love that you donate a whopping 50% of your sales...and to such a great cause, that is awesome.

Good luck, I bet you'll be seeing my name a lot. ;)

The 30 character email length is not long enough for my emails.

I need at least 31 and can imagine I am not the only one who has a longer address.

    TIA

I've worked in pediatrics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation is close to my heart. I didn't expect this from a penny auction site, really cool. ;)

    All:
Thanks for the well-wishes and thanks to all who have signed up!

I'll get Travis working on the 30 character issue (I have no idea how to do any of that...)

Thought I should tell you one more thing about the site...We do NOT have a "Last Chance" button. Our timer counts down as follows: "5, 4, 3, Glamming, Glamming, Gone." Given the delay in typical internet connections, we cannot guarantee that a DivaDime placed with less than 5 seconds on the clock will register.

    Glam on!

Your terms of service state that free divadimes are only good for 7 days and purchased ones for 9 months. That doesn't give much value to the free divadimes

Thanks for pointing that out. At some point, free DivaDimes may have a time limit associated with a promotion. If no time limit is specified, then free DivaDimes are good for nine months. The current promotion does not specify a time limit, so the 7 free DivaDimes will be good for 9 months. I've updated the T&C to clarify.

    Hi all,
I'm new to this rigmarole, but I'd like to introduce myself.

I'm the brother that's doing the web site stuff.
I've been working night and day (literally) to get everything ready for MONDAY!

I have changed the maxlength for the email to 60, thanks for alerting me to that issue, I wouldn't have come across it with my emails.

I'm spending my time cleaning up the code and trying to "break" it. I don't want any of you gals (or guys) to mysteriously lose bids (or DivaDimes as we like to call them) in an errant DivaValet (our version of bid butler). All that said, don't hesitate to use the contact us form to submit any ideas/complaints/concerns or if you find the form too cumbersome (I will work on that too ;) ) just drop me an email at customerservice@dime-divas.com .

I know PAW lays the smack-down on suspicious activity, but more importantly I will never do any shady stuff (it just makes me feel icky). If you suspect anything shady let me know and I'll REGULATE!.

Ok, gotta run now, I'm sure my sister has another "feature" or "wouldn't it be cool if" that I'm supposed to be working on for the next 6 hours.

    PAW:
I promise - NO BOTS. We even have a written transcript with the developer (if it ever comes to that) confirming deletion of all bots. Disabling them was not sufficient for us - we had them removed from the program entirely!!!

    YES!

When we first were looking into scripts as a starter we didn't know where to start. But after some back and forth with the script maker I insisted that he help us remove the bot bidders/bidding scheme. So now they are all gone! As evident by the fact that we have no bids. From now on I am doing all the scripting and am working hard to make sure that no bots will bid.

I've been running tests all week and the only bidders were me and my sister, who will never bid on anything besides those auctions listed as "TESTING AUCTION"

Come on all, be the first to bid.

I was able to log in yesterday...can't today. It says my user name/password is wrong, but I know it isn't wrong....so I clicked the "forgot password" thingy and got an email, but the email just has my user name in the form...no password...so I still can't log in.

    cave,

thanks for the info, you should have gotten an email from me personally. I messed up a handful of accounts and had to reset a few password.

I'm feel horrible to have inconvenienced people.

    my sincerest appologies.

    Default lag

your site has a lag on it, first i was outbid by iloveyou and then i try to bid and i got a msg saying i was the top bidder, then i bid again and it took my bid, then at my 5 or 6 bid, i refresh the site and it took like 10-15 sec for the site to appear.

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely get Travis to look into it. My timer went smoothly the entire time....Some lag time is unavoidable, but we will continue to work to improve our timer. The fact that we don't have a "last chance" may have something to do with it. Maybe while we are working on it, we will extend the time that the auction increases to 20 seconds.

We show that you made 4 bids and have 3 free remaining - did you try to bid more times than that?

Wow your timer is quick! I'm used to PP's "last chance" warning staying up for ages so I didn't even attempt to put a bid in until I saw "Glamming" pop up and it was over with just like that! I like it. Don't change it.

Congrats to the early bird winners tonight - I have a feeling this site is going to be very popular. Good luck everyone.

Thanks - we are so excited - I haven't felt this way since giving birth! LOL. Travis and I were just thinking that we can't wait until next Monday to do this all over again. SO...we might just have some auctions ending this week as well!!! We need to get our UPS shipping squared away. This was such a spur of the moment thing, we are turning to the USPS (with delivery confirmation of course) for our first shipments.

    Glam On!!!

Well that was fun...but I had a little trouble in the very end...I was bidding against the person who won and right before she won it, I had placed a bid, then she placed a bid, then when I tried to get my last bid in I got a pop up that said "you are already the high bidder"...but I wasn't...the winner had outbid me and by the time I got that pop up off she had already won. No big deal..they were free bids..but just wanted to let ya know what I had run into. Still looking forward to the next one!

You PAW posters are so nice and helpful.

I am working on that top bidder thing right now.

I could explain the issue, but it probably would only interest me ;)

Stay tuned, we are definitely going to continue with this, it was so much fun!

awww, shucks. You guys are too nice

Ok, here's the deal with the top bidder error.

You will no longer get that error when you bid on something and are NOT the top bidder. YAY

I can't seem to get the image from changing to grey when you are no longer the top bidder. I know it's aesthetic, but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to making things useful, easy, and fun.

Thanks for all the feedback, and keep it coming.

    Hello Divas and Divos,
I just wanted to let you know that from time to time we will be running Refill Days. Today happens to be one of those days. If you buy a bid package today you will get 1 free Glam Buck per DivaDime purchased. For instance if you buy the 100 DivaDime package you will get 100 GLAM BUCKS!

That will bring you that much closer to your SpaFinder gift certificate. After these 18 hour days working on the site I hope that I get one of those (hint to Traci).

Glam on (I'm still not used to typing that)

I think your site is looking good and I'm loving the customer support. One suggestion I have is to make a link to past auctions a bit more visible. I always like not having to hunt around to see the ended auctions. When I look at your site, unless I'm missing something completely obvious, I don't see the ended auctions.

I see you have chat capability coming soon, I don't mind it but I do remember other sites having had problems with that function in the past - ie bullying/threatening bidders, etc. If I were opening a penny auction I would NOT want it to have an attached chat room.

Take a look at Bid66 -- one of the reasons I stopped bidding there.

    NEW AUCTION POSTED!

Today we are having a special Diva Your Daughter auction.

    Check it out!

Additionally this auction is going to be the first to use our DivaValets.
As always, all feedback is MUCH appreciated because we want to get everything flawless.

    hrm.
I never really thought about bullying, you people are so nice.

Would it change your mind if you had to "open" the chat and sign in to read/write?, similar to the facebook style. It wouldn't stop people from talking about you, but you would never see it.

That was my goal.. and soon is relative (I hate sites that add features before they fix the ones they already have).
