Are you still bidding at Bid66? I used up the small bid pack I bought and never went back. You guys scared me away -- especially you, Bella! I just felt like everyone was after the new guy -- just part of my paranoia. Do you bid anywhere else and what name do you use (if you don't want to answer that's OK). We'd love to meet you friends -- have they signed up yet?

I bid as Bella and Scarlette. I saw a new site called Bid my dreams, but they dont run until later in the evening, and not many a night, mostly gift cards. And you would laugh if you knew how long it takes me to post a picture! I have to call somebody and have them talk me through the process! I'll try though, and yes they are 2 of my Golden Retrievers! Yes, I do have bids left at Bid66, and like the rest of you, have decided it's best to steer clear! I don't think my friends have signed up yet, but they will. Can I ask you a question? I still haven't figured this site out, probably help if I read the directions, but is there a place where there's an open chat? I could use some help! Oh, by the way I LOVE your avatar!!!!!!! ok, i'm gonna go check out some bid sites, any suggestions would be appreciated! See you later!

We don't have an open chat on PAW but I wish we did. That was the only thing I did like about Bid66. Although I didn't like the way they ignored me when I would ask a question. Every time I would ask a question, the mod would say -- OK, guys! Time for another auction! Felt very uncomfortable. And just in case you're wondering why part of your post was deleted, we aren't allowed to communicate with one another outside of the forum to avoid collusion or manipulation of auctions. Nor are we allowed to say anything that would influence others not to bid against us in certain auctions.
There are some fairly "new" sites you could try although since Rockybid is down it is kind of hard to win anywhere. I'm hoping once Rocky re-opens, the powerbidders will be too busy fighting over there and the smaller ones will open up more. You're not going to find the assortment of items that you had on Bid66 and some of them don't have many items per day while they are starting out. But, you could try Getitforacent, Biddango, Brassbids, Poshbid. If I were you I'd read thru the threads on each one before trying them. And if you have any questions at all, just post it on the forum and I'm certain someone will know the answer. Did you or your friends play anywhere else besides Bid66? Do you mind telling their names -- I probably saw them at Bid66 during my long time there of about 2 or 3 days!! Sorry, PAW! Just noticed that we're tying up the Bid66 thread -- you can move us to the Lounge if you would like! Bella, why don't you start a new thread in the Lounge and we can chat in there. Well, just an update.
I am from Pittsburgh, and as some of you may know, Bid66 is Pittsburgh based. I came into work today to see my (hopefully future) partner/co-worker throw the front page of the section B from the Post Gazette onto my desk and say he is out of the possible business venture in the PA biz. It's an article about the owner's of Bid66.com, stating their past as ex-gambling convicts looking to make a honest buck. Also, apparently a Mrs. Lee from PAW was interviewed concerning PA's. But I was able to relieve my partner's worries, especially with the info in this post! Thanks!!! Last edited by PennyAuctionWatch; 03-11-2010 at 05:24 PM. Reason: removed url of competing site |

No problem.
Find it hard to believe an "Ex-Gambler" who just finished his second stint in prison, thinks it is good publicity to have an article in the paper about his past and his current endeavor with his friend of the same calibur. It is very interesting... |

I run background checks on people I buy cars from, and people I even think about doing business with. Seeing two prison terms would certainly change they way I approached this guy as a partner. (I wouldn't approach him at all) |

One person who was sent to prison twice is bad as a partner. I agree.
TWO people who both spent time in prison for gambling issues (probably cell-mates)..... HORRIBLE idea. And to Shenan's point also, he said he went to jail for working too hard??? He went to jail for working to hard at breaking the law. And twice at that. So now we are all supposed to believe that he plans on making an honest dollar by doing business with us??? I have no problem giving people the benefit of a doubt at trying to get their lives back in order after spending time in jail. But when you're dumb enough to do the same thing twice and get caught both times, and then turn and create a website that is of a PA, I would not be buying bids to get legit items from this guy. I'd receive an xbox 360 with the barcode scratched off!!!!

![]() He said his future partner said he was out after he read that article! (unless of course I misread in which case anyway!)I really don't look at that as great advertising either, but you know what they say about bad publicity..........its advisertising! He might as well pack it in now though! I'm heading over to Pittsburgh this week-end to cover all his silly Bid66 stickers with piggies!! |

"Bid66 has more than 6,500 registered users. The site hasn't turned a profit, because many people are using promotional bids, Conley said."
The question is are the registered users paying users or not? I'm not posting this to say they are not, only that I think something doesn't seem right. Just wanted to clear that up. After speaking with my friend about the article, he realized that a two-stint ex-con shouldn't be the reason he drops out of our business plans. lol |

I know, right? No harm, no foul! We should petition to remove all convicted criminals from our jail and prison systems if they did not hurt anyone, physically.
Then we can train them to run PA sites, and just think of all the free publicity penny auctions will get with all of THOSE editorials! |

I can personally vouch for bid66.com. No shills, no bots. The owner John conley is a client of mine. He has purchased some items of note from me. His #1 goal is to keep everything honest and make a profit.
He is as good as his word and I trust him. So he has a past that is illegal. So what, he never used force or fraud against anyone. He was known as the most honest bookie around. Never used violence. He even gives you points when you buy bids to trade for things. I know he personally delivered the first iPad winner because the winner was local. This site deserves your trust. |
