Question Which Auction Script out of these 3?

    Hi all!

Was wondering which company has the best script out of the below 3?

    auctionwebsitescript.com
    pennyauctionscript.com
    pennyauctionsoft.com

Anyone have any experience with these guys?

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions!

Depends on volume. I am pretty sure all will work OK with 10 or 12 people on the site. However run 100 people on it and you better be on a dedicated server with some custom script or strong customized mods done to the above. We used PennyAuctionSoft which worked fine with 12 people. When we did a beta test with 135 people on 9/1 the script failed badly. I have the general feeling that will be the case with all of these scripts. See my advice under forum thread -Beta testers for 9/16 -if you are looking to do this in a big way. If you are looking to do a small penny auction site you probably can use almost any of the scripts you mentioned. Customer support is an entirely another question as I believe all of them are based in India, including the ones that pretend to be in North America

    D) None of the Above

Contact Jeremiah at Bargainsandfun.com. That is who we used for our script at speedyfinger.com. It is also used by nailbidder and bidpigs! Jeremiah is awesome to work with and prices are reasonable!!!!!

If you want more info you can contact me through my site!

    All the best,

    Default Average price

What is the average price for this bargainsandfun script? Is it inline with the other 3 i posted above? We were getting a custom script created from scratch, but that went sour..

    Thx

Well SpeedyFinger i know you are here to get some sales for bargainsandfun.com but my question would be that when it’s no company, it’s no support as well. So if you are a bedroom spare time night only type business, yea bargainsandfun suits you.

Why would you think he offers no support? He has gone above and beyond for me. And I am here not "to get sales fro bargainsandfun" as much as I am trying to offer up what I feel is a great place to get a script.

As far as prices, it depends on what you want. With his script it is a lot of ala carte - you pick and choose which features you want.

Just click on your profile SpeedyFinger and see all of your posts. Wherever someone is asking for a script, it’s only then, when you pop in as a sales rep and present your bargainsandfun. I think you are Jeremiah yourself.

Anyways it does not bother me if you are or not. If you are, it’s okay I understand you are trying to make a living. If you are not, I still understand that you are working hard for a commission.

What I was saying is that if this script is such a big shot, why it’s not a proper commercial script with a website, demo, details, and terms of business, feedbacks, and privacy statements and obviously the list goes on.

What would happen if this “Jeremiah”

    Gets a proper job?
    Gets busy with his lie?
    Goes on vacation?
    Accident/illness?
Decides that he is now bored of this work?
Gets angry on you after taking something personal?

How wise it is to build your whole business on a single person?

    1. I am not Jeremiah.
    2. I hope you weren't serious.
    3. Of my 300+ posts I believe <10 talk about Jeremiah's script.
    4. Jeremiah sells a script. It has worked well for me and everyone else who has purchased it. People who know scripts comment that it is well written. Jeremiah has done lots of custom work on my site adapting it to my reserve style. When I call him, he answers. When I have a problem he gets on it quickly. I am happy with my decision to purchase his script, and am offering it as an option to those looking to start a site. Plain and simple.

Was I nervous at first? Yes. But, every programmer I spoke with locally to custom design a site for me wanted $10,000+. Spending that kind of money on a script made me even more nervous. This whole industry could tumble at any time.

In a nutshell, I know the troubles I went through to find a programmer. If Jeremiah can help anyone, I want them to know about his script.

    All the Best,
    Jeff

    Default Scripts

Speedyfinger... What is the average price for this script? And is it proven stable with 200-500 concurrent users?

Also, the scripts I have mentioned above are able to be modified by the creators and 3rd parties. But, are I guess the real question is... are they EASILY modifiable?

Has anyone used the 3 in my first post?

    thx

First - Jeff and I are NOT the same person. Anyone who has been around this community for any length of time can attest to that.

I run my site and sell my script. If people are happy with the work I've done then they promote it because they are trying to help people who are at the same spot they once were. I spent many months looking for a script, bought several of them and in the end wrote my own anyway.

Once again - not the same person, you are also wrong since We do not pay a commission of any sort.

The script was NEVER intended to be sold when it was written. It was for my use on my site. When others came asking about scripts I offered it to them. I have written several more custom modifications since the original script. I am in the process of setting up a demo site for it, but figure my customers should come first and when there are needs that they have - I put them first - this means that my own projects and site get put on the back burner until I have the time. I have about 4 projects I'm working on for myself personally right now, all are back burner-ed until all of my customers needs are taken care of. Simple answer - I'm not going to launch a simple demo site just because I need to have one when it is not what I want.

I love what i do so i'm not going anywhere.

Mango - I don't think discussing the pricing here in the open forum is allowed but you are welcome to contact me via my site and i'll send you a full price list.

I don't think you will go wrong trying the Bargains and Fun script. At least you are dealing with an American company or person that appears to answer questions professionally and has a positive reputation from what I have seen here on PAW. I can tell you that PennyAuctionSoft is not the way to go since we had nothing but problems with that script. Best to Stay away from the India companies in my opinion.

Default I vouch for Bargains and Fun script and also Jeremiah

I had been looking for scripts for months, looked into various ones and determined many of them to be way to much money for vary little support and product. I than was directed to Jeremiah at Bargains and Fun and from that point on I spoke to him dozens of times asking dumb questions as I know NOTHING about programming or site design/maintenance. He was prompt to answer my questions over the phone and also email depending on how I asked them (returned in the same medium as asked). After hours of dealing with him I decided to purchase the script. It took him less than a week to have me up and running ready for me to take over. I opened the software and thought "o crap, now what do I do?" I called him at his home in Pennsylvania, which is in the USA and he told me to take a few minutes and click a few buttons to see that the site was "idiot proof". I did and I found out that he was right. I started messing around and next thing I knew I had test auctions running in under 1 hour. The reason the site is not up and running for public use is because I still have not set the site up with payment processors like PayPal and Authorize.net because my brother and I are working out our partnership agreement still. As noted above, Jeremiah has not offered commission nor have I asked for it. Yes I do promote his software because I think it is a great product. I even started a thread where people can ask questions about the script and hopefully get answers from current PA owners of the script and not just the creator of the script. My hope was that in the event that Jeremiah may be busy when an urgent question needs answering than another PA owner can answer for him. It is also for general questions about the script. As for price, call Jeremiah. As for customization, you can look at numerous sites his script is running and see how they differ. Some are WAY different and others are quite similar. It all depends on how much time and money you want to invest in the customization department. Someone once posted on PAW that it is probably best to spend the money to just "get the site running" and then after it is producing to spend money on the customization to make it look different. Whether you spend $1,000 or $10,000 on a script doesn't matter if you don't open the doors and then get the paying customers.
    That is just my opinion.
FYI 10kbids dot com is the site Jeremiah put together for my brother and I if you want to see it. Again, it is not yet publicly open but you can take a look around.

...and since I have like 4 or 5 ideas for modifications that I would like Jeremiah to create for me it is really not in my best interest to promote his script. When he takes on more projects his time becomes even more scarce.

Also, for design work I used Jeremy from bidpigs.com. He too was great to work with...

Then why are you doing it? you proved my point . You have no real work apart from working as a sales rep you are concentrating more on getting script sales work then working on your penny auction site.

Does anyone here any any experience with the first one on the list?
    auctionwebsitescript.com?

Does Swipebids actually use this one? I'm sure it is modified and supported by a 3rd party, but still.. If a site as busy as that is using it, it must not be to bad?

    Thoughts??

    thx

I thought I was going to write a nice long response about how you do not know me and know nothing about my life, but decided against it.

I enjoy helping others and enriching their lives more than I care about growing my website. If you frown upon this, I couldn't care less.

we both are saying the same thing. and this is natural Everyone cares more about their full time business more then their part time one which in your case is being a sales rep

    Mango,

I can't help you with the first three options you listed. I know nothing about them other that when I was looking for scripts, I did not feel comfortable with any of the companies that were offering turnkey style scripts. Sorry...

I know this is spam but why are you even here? How is fighting about someone helping someone else benefiiting you? If this is all you do i hishgly doubt you have either a full-time or a prat-time job so why should you be talking about them?
    Just my 2 cents.

From what I remember reading, Swipebids is a scam site or at the very least a dishonest site. Here is a link to a page within this PAW site. SwipeBids.com Possibly Tied to Just Think Media.
Long story short, I would not trust what you see on swipebids to base your decision on software purchasing.
I was also in the same boat as speedyfinger with my decision. I trusted NONE of the 3 you mentioned after reading many reviews on PAW and other sites when I searched their names. I have read that many people get these programs and then spend thousands to modify only to find out there are numerous "backdoors" where the developer can access the software. Some had also been shut down when the transferred to a new server.
    Good luck in your quest.
Sometimes it is easier to go with a proven script that has been reviewed here. Trust me, PAW members will tell you if there was a problem.
If you want a site already running try to contact picklebids dot com as he JUST shut down due to time constraints. If you read those threads you can see he had happy customers. So the script must have worked well. that was a bargainsandfun script.
