New penny auction site BOOMbidz.com opens tomorrow. Dave, chief BOOM officer of BOOMbidz has provided us with a video to show how they set up their auctions, they tell us they have no bots and are all about transparency.

What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?
We discovered penny auctions about a year ago and instantly became users, we all love the idea of getting a great deal with huge discounts. We have won many auctions over the past year and the auctions you currently see up on our site are actual items we have won. As we kept on participating in penny auctions we noticed there wasn’t a lot of interaction and transparency out there between the owners of these sites and it’s users we felt we could add a lot more to the experience and we wanted to do something about. So we hired a web design firm called, Fueled Media, and started our journey.
How long have you been open?
Our site went live on April 19 and our first auctions begin to end on May 5, 2010. aka Cinco de BOOM.
What kind of items do you have lined up? Do your auctions run on a schedule?
We plan on offering everything from gift cards, to electronics to BOOMpacks. Being users on other sites it is nice to see a variety of products available. We want to offer those great products to our customers too.
What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction?
Auction times will vary, we have programmed the timers to basically reset at lower intervals as the amount of bids increase the price of the auction
How much are your bids?
Each bid costs $0.75.
What are your shipping costs? How long does it usually take for users to receive their items?
Shipping costs vary by item and will be posted for all customers to see. Everything will ship within 7-14 days.
What states/countries are you open to?
We are currently only available for US residents.
What is your policy for bid refunds?
We currently do not offer any refunds for bids.
Do you have any win limits?
Our win limits are currently set at 2 wins per a day and 30 wins per a month. However these may change as the market changes.
Is there a story behind the BOOMbidz name/theme?
BOOMbidz was started back in May 2009 between two friends and eventually one of the friend’s wife. We have the Chief BOOM Officer(CBO) Dave. We have the Chief of BOOM (COB) Andy, and of course Assistant To The BOOM (ATTB) Cecilia. We all found the concept of a penny auctions fascinating, with all of us being users on other sites we quickly decided to start up our own penny auction site and let everyone experience the greatness that is BOOM!

We have absolutely no bots whatsoever, we know how important it is to gain the market’s trust and we play on other penny auction sites as well so we know how much of a pain it is to encounter bots.
Users receive 5 free bidz for signing up and right now all users will receive 10% off their first BOOMpack up until May 6th. Users must input the user code “cincodeboom” to receive the discount
We have an invite a friend program called the BOOM Ambassador Program – we can import users contacts from over 40 social networking sites and 50 email providers. Each user will send out a unique code to their friends to use when they sign up and this is all automated on our site and makes it extremely easy. Each new user from the BOOM Ambassador Program will receive the 5 free bidz for signing up and also receive an extra 20% in bidz on any BOOM Pack they purchase. The person that sends the invites out will receive 5 free bidz for everyone that purchases a BOOM Pack.
We are offering what we like to call an achievements section. A unique opportunity for customers to cash in on free bidz for simply winning auctions. As customers win auctions they will work towards unlocking achievements. Unlock different combinations of achievements to get free bidz. A truly unique and rewarding experience for all customers to take advantage of. This portion is still under testing but is coming soon!
