There are many new penny auction sites opening!  We recently spoke with the  team of Bidserk.com about their new penny auction set to open next month.
Penny Auction Watch: What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?
Bidserk: What got us interested in the entertainment shopping industry was we came across Swoopo about 9 months ago and really liked the business concept. At that time there only seemed to be a handful of sites with these auction formats, but since then it seems to have exploded to the point we are at today with soooo many. The problem that we see and I know that all the PAW members are aware of, is there’s no accountability with a large majority of these sites. Our philosophy is simple, EARN OUR MEMBERS TRUST. In order to earn that trust we will provide customer service that is second to none. Any problems, questions etc. will be resolved immediately and to the best of our ability.
Penny Auction Watch: When will you open?
Bidserk: We plan on opening within 4 weeks.
Penny Auction Watch: What kind of items do you have lined up?
Bidserk: Our site will consist of 4 different auction formats
1-penny
2 -price drop
3-zero bid
4-TBA (don’t want to give away completely)
The items we offer in our penny auction format will be mainly lower ticket items and gift cards in the beginning. We will take this approach in the beginning and as we build up our membership base then we will start to introduce higher ticket item. As far as the other three auction formats are concerned we will offer a wide variety of high and low ticket items, we will be able to offer higher ticket items in these formats due to that fact that they are self sufficient.
Penny Auction Watch: What are the timer increments between bids/does this vary by auction
Bidserk: The timer increases on our penny auctions will vary and are customizable but will mainly be 10, 15, 30 sec increments.
Penny Auction Watch: How much are your bids?
Bidserk: Our bid prices are something we are still deciding. They will most likely vary between .65 to $1 depending on the bid packs
Penny Auction Watch: What will your shipping costs be?
Bidserk: In the beginning we plan to offer free shipping for the first month and will see if that can be sustained for the long term, if not we will try to have flat rates
Penny Auction Watch: Do you plan to be open to other countries?
Bidserk: In the beginning we plan to be open in the US but have aspirations to expand to other markets.
Penny Auction Watch: Are they win limits, limits /household?
Bidserk: We will have win limits on our site. We would like feedback from PAW members on what limits they believe are the best and would make them feel the most comfortable with as we know many sites have them and would like to have there opinions on which limits are the fairest in there experiences.
Penny Auction Watch: What is your bid refund policy?
Bidserk: Our bids will be non refundable. With that being said we will try to each situation into consideration.
Penny Auction Watch: Is there a story behind the name/theme?
Bidserk: We sat on the computer for two nights just typing in different domain names and all the ones we kept thinking of were taken. Finally, I said to my partner I’m going to go berserk with these names. He then typed in Bidserk and we saw that it was for sale and we bought it. So that explains the crazy looking character slamming the hammer, we hope everyone likes him and thinks it’s funny (and no that’s not supposed to be me, I’m funny looking but not that funny looking 🙂
Penny Auction Watch: Thanks! Is there anything else you would like to tell us about Bidserk?
Bidserk: We will have a lot of different features on our site, I don’t want to disclose them at the moment but we feel that the members will enjoy them and they will add to the transparency of our site. We haven’t decided yet but may ask for beta testers for our site. We will let you know. If anyone has any questions or suggestions please don’t hesitate to ask.
