First off, we are exclusive to Australia. We don’t like the practice of opening auctions to users from different countries – especially as they are often bidding on slightly different items.
To encourage usability, our bids are around 15c. We’re looking to build a fair and sustainable business. To this end, we’re proactive with customer service, and do most of it via our Facebook page.
Essentially, we are building a fun and engaging site. To this end, we’re constantly implementing features to allow users to compete for free.
For example, on most auctions, users get one guess of the end price using our “End Price Predictor”. The closest guess scores 15 bids, exact guesses score 50.
We also have a feature called “Pouncer Bombs”. These are 1s time increment auctions that are free for all and score the winner between 10 and 50 bids. All bids placed on these auctions are refunded once the auction ends.
We run regular quizzes on Facebook, giving out free bids for different puzzles – such as riddles and Who Am I?
Pouncer also uses the “Buy It Now” feature – at any time during or after the auction, users can contribute the value of their spent bids towards the item and buy it at “Our Price” which is approximately what you would pay for the same item in a shop.
We also have uChoose – a feature allowing users to choose their end product. For example, when a user wins a TV DVD Series uChoose, they can choose their show and choose their season.
We’ve just introduced our newest feature – Pouncer Votes. Each user can vote once for the end auction – this is typically between items of similar value. Two hours before the auction ends, it morphs into the winning item.
We’re continually working on new features and ideas to make the site more fun and engaging.
