We recently interviewed Daniel, CEO of WinnersMountain.com and took a look at this penny auction site. Daniel tells us he runs an honest penny auction site with no shill bidding.
What got you interested in the entertainment shopping industry?
First off, hello everyone! My name is Daniel, and I am the CEO of Winners Mountain LLC. I am honored to talk about our company on PAW. A combination of things stirred my interested in building a company and venturing into the penny auction world. The two main aspects were my work and Haggle.com.
For the past year, I have been working a graveyard shift (for my normal career). Maintaining the same sleep schedule, I frequently found myself with nothing to do at 3 in the morning. One early morning, I stumbled onto Haggle.com and became hooked. I then began researching the ins and outs of the entertainment shopping industry and began looking into getting licensed in Washington State. After putting together a team, we worked on the company for several months before finally launching on February 1st.
What makes your penny auction site unique?
Simple, Winners Mountain values user input. We love hearing from our shoppers on how to make our company better. Because of this, you will see our company making positive transformations each day. Many of the changes we’ve implemented over the past month are derived from customer requests – 30-second timers switched to 15-second timers, dime auctions switched to penny auctions, and a greater variety of products.
Another aspect distinguishing us from other companies is our creativeness. We are all about holding “special” auctions throughout the month. For example, we recently held a “Go Big or Go Home” contest, an event many shoppers loved. The concept was simple. We auctioned off a PlayStation 3 and incorporated new concepts that made this auction special: the auction morphed into a penny auction, the timer dropped to 10 seconds, bid buddies weren’t allowed, and winners received 75% of their bids back.
We have several other special auctions that we are excited to test out as we continue to grow.
What kind of items do you have lined up? Do your auctions run on a schedule?
We offer a wide range of products ranging from gift cards to Xb0x 360’s. As our site grows, we will continue to fill other time slots throughout the day. There is no set schedule of how many items we put up each day. Our team tries very hard to balance our items and time slots of auctions based on users’ requests and the opularity of the item.
What are the timer increments between bids? Does this vary by auction?
At this time, all auctions are set to 15 seconds as per users’ requests.

Is there a story behind WinnersMountain name/themWashington’s known for and blessed with an abundance of mountains. We decided to incorporate this unique and wonderful aspect of Washington into our name and theme. Hence, “Winners Mountain” was born. It also seemed like a name people would easily remember.
