We just got message by way of our awesome forum, (which has just been converted over to vBulletin!) of a new penny auction coming soon: Bid Raptor.  We think it’s pretty neat when penny auctions show themselves by posting in the forum, even cooler when they tell us they WILL be legit. We sure hope so and we will hold them to this standard, as always, WE WILL be watching.

We are a new penny auction site at www.bidraptor.com. We plan on going live on 09-09-09. We thought it was a cool date to use. Â This is subject to finishing up the coding and beta testing.

We are working hard to be one of the legitimate penny auction sites out there. Here is what we plan to do:
1. All items that are listed will be in stock and will ship within 1 business day of the winner paying for their auction. We think this is very important as we know some sites takes weeks if not months to ship a product out.
2. We guarantee that there will be no shill bidders or bots. How are we doing this? We are going to use a 3rd party accounting/auditing firm that will go through all the code of the site as well as the history of the site to verify that there were no shill bidders or bots being used. We will back up our servers every night so they will have access to the code at any time.
3. We will start out small. We won’t have a ton of auctions each day but enough based on members and revenue. As the site grows so will the number of auctions. We know that there will not be an influx of members on the site when we go live. We will not run 24 hours a day but schedule the last auction to end approximately at 9 PM EST. (This is always subject to change).
4. We will have several types of auctions. Normal Penny Auctions, Newbie Auctions, Seated Auctions (Coming later) and a new twist on the Bid to Zero Auction (Ours is called Find the Raptor). Instead of the price being hidden and the winner is the one who reveals the price when it hits zero we will randomly set the end price. At anytime the price you reveal could be the winning price.
5. No crazy high ticket items starting out. As the site grows we will add them.
6. We will work hard to have the best customer service.
7. The site will be open to residents of the U.S. and Canada and hopefully before the end of the year we want to open it up to the U.K. also.
8. We plan on opening it up to pre-registration about 1 week before the site goes live. Special bid pack pricing will be available to everyone who registers.
9. Â We would like to invite a group of penny auction watch members to participate in beta testing on the site. Â Â These will be test auctions and we will credit bids to your account to test but this is only for testing so the items will not be real. Â Everyone who participates in beta testing will receive 10 free bids when the site goes live. Â We are looking for 100-200 people to beta test the site.
