In response to Olavi at Digitalfruit.ee’s comments as left on this post, (Yes, Olavi is the one that quoted this Nazi in regards to this site! Update: We have just received an email from Olavi@digital fruit telling us that the commentator with the name “Olavi” is not him and that he only has one IP address, according to him, Mickey the Mouse is the real Olavi-We’re not too sure what to believe here, but the Olavi poster’s IP does come from the same ISP as Olavi@digitalfruit (Mickey the Mouse) (well at least one, the rest are on proxy servers.)  This just keeps getting rehashed by them, also of note is a poster who is using a TOR Proxy Client to hide their IP address, this commentator is accusing me of having a “vendetta” with Digitalfruit. You may be interested in knowing that even Olavi posted under a proxy IP address, as well as Mickey the Mouse, Alice, and Christian They’re all posting on various IP addresses (almost EACH time they post) coming from the RIPE Network Communication Centre, (more than likely they’re proxied IPs) and one from the German Privacy Protection’s TOR Client IP address. I do not have any personal vendettas, I have been accused of harboring grudges here and that is not true. I only want to see the unethical shill bidding practices in penny auctions put to an end.

Here is a full page screenshot of the original e-mail correspondence that I received from Olavi, Digitalfruit.ee (a penny auction script/software development firm in Estonia) back in September of 2009.

That’s why online pharmacies is becoming more popular over the last years. Well-known are remedies which are used to reduce inflammation caused by inflammation of the skeletal muscle etc. There were only few examples. Did somebody tell you about canadian generic Viagra? Maybe you along know about the matter. Sexual dysfunction can be a result of a physical condition. Even when it has a physical cause, psychological problems can make the disorder worse. Sex drive problems are so commonly a product of how you feel that there is some to that “headache” saying after all.

From your email correspondence with Olavi, the IIP component was only mentioned when solicited by your request. Why initiate a campaign against a feature in which you specifically inquired about? If I'm not mistaken, that is the quintessential definition of entrapment, is it not?

From a impartial point of view, Olavi simply provided good customer service by having what you asked for. If it had never been requested by you, it would never have been offered by Olavi. As a result, your argument is immaterial. Unless you are arguing against good customer service. Then, I can totally understand your argument.

I'm only showing that the possibility of bots could exist with Digitalfruit.ee's software (as well as many others), I have lost hundreds of dollars bidding against bots, people just need to be aware of their existence. We wont say any site has bots until we can prove it, we're just showing that there is a possibility so that bidders bid with caution. Thank you

In that respect, I applaud your intentions. Any effort to identify, confront, and ultimately remove any penny auction website which employs duplicitous devices to defraud their customers is indeed commendable. However you are indeed engaged in a campaign against the wrong entity. Digital Fruit is not the one defrauding shoppers of their trust, and money. It is the penny auction proprietors (or those who pose as penny auction proprietors) who are worthy of that blame and the scrutiny of PAW.

Those are the ones who need to be placed under a microscope, and have their business go bankrupt. Digital Fruit only programs what is requested of them because for all purposes… that's the essence of their business. What is done with that program by the client does not make Olavi, nor Digital Fruit blameworthy.

PennyGrabber, ofcourse you will do your best to defend the same company you are basing your entire technical operations on. PAW is perfectly within its right to disclose companies that offer such features because it helps us identify PA sites that utilize their services as suspect. Your defense is flagrant conflict of interest and your "impartial point of view" is pure hypocrisy on your end. And all this when you havent even started your business yet. Your actions have warranted a large scale awareness campaign, people should know of this sham.

Here is where the dog is buried my dear friend. You have lost (according your own words) hundreds of dollars bidding against bots. You are just furious and frustrated, Digital Fruit can be can be bullied without any harm. US company would dragged you to court and would taken everything you own. Yeah, this is freedom of speech baby, those poor bastards can't even defend themselves properly.

Just for the record… I'm posting this TWICE, in both comment threads.

In my personal opinion, BOTH the people providing the tool AND the people using it for wrongdoing should be placed under scrutiny.

So based on some of the rather generalized opinions on the subject, I assume some of you would also agree that if some computer programmer guru in Wisconson writes a basic commuinication software program to perform some rudimentary daily functions, but behind the scenes some shady Liberians contact him and financially entice him into adding the specific capability of hacking into some American government database… just because THEY eventually take it upon themselves to use the added "feature" to steal YOUR identity and social security earnings to help finance terrorism… the poor, innocent guy in Wisconson should not, in any way, be held liable for his actions (by you, the US government, or anyone else for that matter) since he actually didn't perform the dastardly deed? After all – he just programmed what they asked for, right?

Yeah, yeah. So it somewhat resembled a bad Bruce Willis flick… but I think you get the point.

Bottom line – these so-called "Intelligent Investment Protector" (man what an obvious name) features serve NO apparent purpose other than to specifically cheat unwitting bidders out of their hard-earned dollars (other than maybe creating a false sense of customer security by creating "ended" auctions before the site ever opens… but either way, it's fraud).

But wait. They're supposedly strictly for "TESTING" purposes, right? Tell you what. Create a user account (just like everyone else) with the user name of " SITE ADMIN", an email address of siteadmin@biddomain.com, an announcement on the site if you ever need to use it, and test to your little heart's content. Where's the issue with that?

Oh yeah. It's not PROFITABLE (for anyone involved)!!

Quit trying to put a wolf in sheep's clothing. It simply isn't going to work…

"Digital Fruit is not the one defrauding shoppers of their trust, and money. It is the penny auction proprietors (or those who pose as penny auction proprietors) who are worthy of that blame and the scrutiny of PAW."

      PennyGrabber,

The developer is at fault here because penny auction sites couldnt shill like the IIP that Digitalfruit (as well as many others) offered without their help. I even asked in the e-mail to them first what could one do to protect themselves from losing money, he could have said nothing, tell me to spend money marketing, and everything that needs to be done, and if you can't afford to lose don't put items up., all of which are reasonable answers, instead he graciously offered his $3k (approx) addon which suggests penny auction owners to shill bid their auctions when they have minimal traffic, and even when they have more traffic… ? Like I said, Olavi kept saying his addon would avert suspicions, don't tell me he did not know there was nothing wrong with this function that he would even admit suspicion. Also, who is to say that they will only use this feature for testing purposes after they have paid so much for it?

Shill bidding on penny auction/pay-per-bid/entertainment shopping sites has to stop!

Regardless of the issues of who should be held responsible for this – placing a quote by a Nazi Jew murderer into this thread (especially when it's about Estonia, Google "history of Jews" in this country if you must) it shows some pretty awful "bad taste". This site and it's owner sinks to a new low in what is simply their own personal vendetta.

    • auctionwatcher January 18, 2010, 4:02 am

I'm sorry but if you read the comment left by Olavi on the last post, he's the one that posted the quote.

    • auctionwatcher January 18, 2010, 4:11 am

This was posted by Olavi@digitalfruit.ee "Mickey the Mouse":"Currently my understanding is that PAW really does not care, as this is not really a point they are attempting to prove here. In my eyes it PAW just repeats as many times as possible the same mantra over and over in hope that this will finally stick. I assure you if you repeat something long enough it will look and work accordingly. I think it was third Reich propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels who said something like that “If you tell a lie and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”. Also making clear I did not say that you lie, what I did say is that you should look really over you agenda in this question."
