UPDATE: 6/11: BuyBidz told us that they were using the WIFI connection at PennyAuctionSoft’s office, that’s why the IP matched… Post your experiences & reviews of PennyAuctionSoft.
There’s a user of our forum, BuyBidz, that has been responding to questions and comments about the penny auction script company PennyAuctionSoft.com, he seems to be insisting that he has no affiliation and is only a customer yet an IP match of the forum user BuyBidz’ registration IP address and the IP from an e-mail from PennyAuctionSoft are identical. Unfortunately, not only have penny auction site owners come on here to post false reviews, now script developing/clone software companies are doing this as well.
First “BuyBidz aka Chad” posted that he had purchased the script 11 days before his post, gives his own company an A+++ rating under his shill review of his overall “experience” when other customers of the script have commented with their negative experiences with the company BuyBidz has been very defensive. “These guys get an A+++ for customer support, product knowledge and delivering a good product.”
Here’s another post by BuyBidz, notice how he puts down other script companies and praises his own [PennyAuctionSoft Thread]:

This leads me to believe that they must be some of the guys I will write below about. Like I said earlier, I’ve been writing code for a very long time and when someone says something I just know is not true I will always step up and speak my mind.Don’t take this as an advert for the company either, (Well based on today’s findings that’s all BuyBidz’ post were) just sharing my own experience as I’ve been a victim of:
phppennyauction.com/pennyauctionscript.com (which is the same CAKE Framework script which has many short comings because of the framework). This same script is all over the place for as little as $9.99 on some sites and is not worth even that. I had to charge back my credit card just to get my money back from them and it was not a good experience. I bought the script and basically was ignored when it comes to support. Ask around or google it, many people can back me up on these guys. If they eliminate the Cake Framework and start over with PHP/CSS this script could become something special. At the moment they couldn’t give a rats @ss about they’re clients or what they are selling.
reputeinfosystems.com/hotauctionscript.com (same guy from India who had the right intention just cant code securely which lead to a compromise of my original site). When I asked Ankur to sanitize the inputs and fix the issues I was told story after story. That some how my server was the problem and not his script. I showed him google analytics logs which clearly showed the SQL injections taking place against his script and the compromise. I finally gave up and moved on. His approach is to serve everything up from a single SQL database including the timers. This a a recipe for disaster as his scripting is not only insecure but overloads mysql and crashes the whole thing.
ajaxphppennyauction.com (Tried him too) timers wasn’t an issue but the script just lacks the overall features I needed out of the box. Needless to say his support was good and I didn’t feel like my $99 bucks went to waste as I picked up some good pointers on ajax functionality and timers.Swoopo clone 2010 (bought this crap off of tradebit for $29.99) and this was the same old crap I’ve seen everywhere too. It presents well (just like swoopo, but the timers kept overloading the server.
I’ve been around the block and back with these script sellers and sank well over $5000 purchasing and testing various scripts. I’ve had mixed experiences with these vendors and I know what I’m talking about.The only one I found worth working with has been pennyauctionsoft.com, support has been decent and the script is football fields ahead of everyone else.
After everything I have been threw in the last 10 months, dont tell me other wise because I KNOW BETTER” (Apparently he didn’t know well enough to not post shill reviews to our forum.)
So, seeing as we were already suspicious of this user based on his posts, we took a look at his IP addresses and sure enough it matches up with the IP address from the message header of an e-mail from PennyAuctionSoft.com:
And the IP as found from in the message header of an e-mail from support@PennyAuctionSoft.com
Basically, what this shows us is that we can’t always trust reviews found online, many could be fake reviews posted by the owner or someone affiliated with the company. We don’t appreciate it when business owners are unethical and feel its all right to write shill reviews about their own products.
We’re accepting honest user reviews of penny auction script companies, if the reviews are indeed from a customer and not the script developers, please post your reviews of PennyAuctionSoft in our Penny Auction Script Reviews section.

I bought pennyauctionsoft guided from some of the reviews posted and the fact that they did post updates in their webpage.
Here is what happened:
1. Got the script: and was charged delivery to send a CD with some manuals.
2. They took more than 3 days to install it on a VPS I rented from them.
3. The product was a little less what I hoped for (I needed tons of customizing in order to make it work in a another language, and the engineering was poor).
4. Never got any support (even though I paid for it), I wrote them many times, called the 1-800 number but never got an answer.
5. They never sent me an email billing me for another month of the VPS and one day took my page down, wiping out all of my files (which had cost me thousands).
6. They said it was my fault for not paying and that they didn’t have a way to recover my files. NICE!!!!
So, if you are looking for a serious provider, these are not the guys for you.

as the new owner of http://www.pennyauctionsoft.com .. i would like to say we have addressed any of these issues discussed in this forum and as for phil_s.. even though i did not profit or sell you the software directly i would love to issue you a new license and help you get started again. FOR FREE.
i have revamped the support team. and we are now hosting on the cloud which has been more reliable.. if we r doing your install it may take up to 3 days based on the schedule. but we do offer a link for you to download it yourself within hours.. i hope we can be better in the future and i do truelly believe we offer a suoerior software.. it is simple and expandable. and our timers worl. feel free to comment..

I bought it a couple months ago and installed it fine. But cannot get the timers to work. I reinstalled it 2 more times but the timers just show a time and don’t move. I think the directions showed an incorrect php file to access or something. I’ve asked support and they take days to get back and told me i have to spend lots of money for them to figure it out. But i just want to know if i’m accessing the wrong file i can change that and get the crons to work myself. I don’t want to put down more money when it could be something simple.
