PinkOwls.com is, or should we say was, a penny auction site for designer handbags. Just last month they decreased auctions to 1 per week, now they haven’t had any auctions in a few weeks now. A reader and winner of PinkOwls recently sent in some very interesting observations that we thought we’d share with you and get your input. Perhaps you’ve bid on PinkOwls and won and haven’t received your won items? Please let us know.
Under Eligibility, PinkOwls states that employees & relatives of employees, are prohibited from participating in their auctions:
“Employees of Pink Owls and commercial resellers are prohibited from purchasing or placing hoots on the Website under any circumstances. Any hoots purchased or placed by minors or such employees, or their relatives, or commercial resellers will be deemed null and void.“
What’s interesting, is that there’s a user “Tanja” who has won a few items, she shares the same first name as an alleged employee.
According to our reader, Pink Owls stopped shipping items in early September and believes that “they are trying to put their winners off until the paypal 45 day chargeback is over. They have removed all their auctions and are “restructering” but to this day they are still advertising via facebook and twitter and are still selling bid packs even tho they owe a lot of people for items won over the last 2 months.”
Also, according to the registrant information for PinkOwls, the owner is a Shawn Brann and according to a reader, he stated that Tanja was an administrative assistant.

The po box and number being used appear to belong to a domain privacy registration service, a quick Google search shows numerous complaints for other companies using the same service to hide their registrant info.
According to the PinkOwls testimonial page, Tanja has won a few items:
A Tanja Peterhans has “liked” many of the comments and photos on the PinkOwls Facebook page and it has been alleged that Shawn Brann’s personal Facebook page displays a photo of him with Tanja.
On Twitter “TanjaPeterhans” tweeted the following:

Pink Owls wall update on November 1st sparked some unfavorable comments:
“We’re expanding the nest and our looking forward to great new hoot outs with lots more options!” Two users responded with the following comments: “hide ya kidz, hide ya wife, hide ya husbandz too cuz they rippin off errybody up in here! & “and god forbid you complain about them, because they will just delete your comment.” Additionally, a user with the last name “Brann,”Tressa Ray Brann liked the wall post.
Could Tressa Ray Brann be a relative of the owner? Both are stated to live in TX.
On September 23rd, Tressa Ray Brann also posted the following comment to their Facebook wall: “Cute purse!! Hope I’m the highest bidder..”
“Tressa Ray Brann: People sign up and buy hoots.. It’s a great site to winning great designer merchandise. I’ve won many things.. Coach purse, pants, coach wristlet, and a few more.. So please go sign up and Hoot!!!”

Amanda, I’d appreciate it if you would credit PennyBurners and our users for the majority of the information you have posted in your article. We’ve been talking about PinkOwls for a while now, while you have never mentioned them until now.
You would never have had this information or known about this site had you not been reading PennyBurners. It’s a little frustrating to see you use all of our hard work and take all of the credit for it, as if this is yet another scam site you’ve “discovered.”
I have no faith that you will approve this comment, but I know you will read it. Please do the right thing and give credit where credit is due.

Katie, unlike some people I do not “steal” information. A user emailed me and told me about her experiences, She also told me about Tanja, I then looked on their Facebook page and found the relative, you are wrong.I did credit this user by mentioning she sent me the info, didn’t know if she wanted her username disclosed. My source was not Penny Burners, do not falsely accuse me once again.

My article was already written before I even saw that you were discussing this on your site, which I barely visit nor do I wish to. I found your forum thread by a google search after the fact.

i submitted the info on pinkowls to 3 penny auction websites, include this one and penny burners as well as paypal, the dallas bbb, ripoffreport.com, and itc3.gov. the first place i went was pennyburners because thats where i heard about the site and then i went to the others and told them all the same information.

Amanda, if you read the original article, you’d see that we had not hears anything about them, but that we were impressed with their design and hoped they would do well.
Once we got wind of what was going on, we immediately made contact with Shawn & Tanja, and have been trying to get answers for our users ever since.
I’m glad Molly commented here to back you up, because frankly, I don’t trust you.
Hope you’re able to get answers for your users in this situation.

I am sick of the way pb acts. I have been a member of paw for many months. I seen your site from the day you started it. I don’t think you should be credited for anything you write. Frankly I don’t think you deserve to even have a site like you do. Your site is full of spam and advertisements and a bunch of crap. You guys make yourselves look like the top watch site but your not. Amanda’s site is far more resourceful than your site will ever be. I don’t think you should come over here in our territory commenting on anything. Talk about it over there and leave this place alone.
Thank you Amanda for posting that. I was actually going to use that site but did not. Also your site is much more resourceful and you should not put up with the pb crap.

Received $54 refund on paypal chargebacks, lost claim of $150 because i waited 1 day too long to file it (paypal counts THE DAY of the transaction in their 45 day window, in my counting i started with the next day). There is a notation that they CAN go back up to 180 days if an account has several people doing chargebacks but since there were so few REAL bidders/winners who werent employees or family members then theres probably not very many.

someone from paypal called me about 30 minutes after i posted this and she told me that because i had had problems with this site in the past and that because i had only missed the 45 day window by one day that she was going to reopen those disputes! so glad that i emailed paypal, now hopefully i will get what i spent there (after they stopped shipping) back. The total is still less than the value of the items but i can live with that.

Have you not noticed that this place is not a place to argue. It is a place to share ideas, help other bidders and to give tips on penny auctions! More but you get the point.
I don’t know what you do over at pennyburners.(dot)SPAM but here we do not like drama nor do we feel that your presence is necessary. The comments that you (OWNER OF PB) post are irrelevant to this site.
Maybe you should just talk about it over there. No one needs you here filling up the comments with your drama, junk, and nonsense.
