UPDATE: After publishing this article my account was suspended and banned on iTicketbid.
I wrote this article after finding out that they divulged my personal information to a 3rd party- the banned message reads:
“Your account is disabled: Collusion and attempting to manipulate auction outcome by using a 3rd party. Your information was NEVER given out EVER. It was brought to our attention. Your article just confirmed you attempted to us”
NEVER ONCE have I colluded – or used a 3rd party to bid. How was my personal information brought to their attention and released to Nick Boccio.
Their actions as a penny auction site and a business, iticketbid LLC is inexcusable.
It has been brought to our attention that Georgia based penny auction site iTicketBid.com has been allegedly disclosing their user’s personal information to third parties. They also don’t seem to be encrypting customer’s credit card information, full 16-digit cc numbers and expiration dates are clearly shown and stored in a users account.
What is Privacy?
“Privacy is the expectation that confidential personal information disclosed in a private place will not be disclosed to third parties, when that disclosure would cause either embarrassment or emotional distress to a person of reasonable sensitivities. Information is interpreted broadly to include facts, images (e.g., photographs, videotapes), and disparaging opinions.”-http://www.rbs2.com/privacy.htm
Though iTicketBid Says, “It is very important to iTicketBid that Your data is protected” They don’t mean it, and they even tell you they don’t right after they say they “strive to protect your information.”
“iTicketBid values your privacy and strives to protect your information. We have security measures in place to protect all personal data from unauthorized disclosure or access. However, although we do take these measures, we cannot guarantee nor should you expect that your personal data or any communications with iTicketBid will remain private in every instance.”
Would you trust a penny auction site who has this in their privacy policy? Should you? I already don’t.
