Well, we ran Firebug on yet another site running on the PHPpennyauction script BigFootBids.com. We found that the bidders that are currently bidding have no e-mail addresses associated with their accounts (there’s a bug in the script that allows for us to see the e-mail addresse). Since we know that this script has been known to have the autobidder/fake bidder feature programmed in to shill bid we tend to be skeptical of many of the sites running on this script (and others).
When testing the site our e-mail address is displayed while bidding, the others are not. In order to login & bids, users must activate their accounts via the activation link that is sent to the e-mail addresses on file with registered accounts.
As we have told you before, admin bidders (bots) do not have e-mail addresses.
Have you bid on BigFootBids.com? Based on our findings today, it’s of our opinion that the admin autobidding function is turned on, this is in effect shill bidding and we don’t appreciate it when we find sites that are giving users false hopes of winning items when they are internally bidding against them.
