Many months ago we wrote a series of articles on the penny auction sites BidPax, BidVoo, and iPennyBid. We first found iPennyBid.com, and told you that it was of our opinion that they appeared to have bot bidders, soon after our initial posting we received a legal threat from them.
Then, we kept seeing negative comments [...]

BidPax Testimonial

November 17, 2009

A reader and customer of BidPax.com (which was iPennybid) recently wrote us to tell us about their experiences with them and tells us he thinks BidPax has their own fake testimonial website: BidPaxScam.com, which interestingly enough pays for Google Adwords.
“Hi PAW,
Plimus is useless. They force resolve our dispute so i’m not able to get a [...]

Penny Auctions Go Global

October 14, 2009

Penny Auctions are prominent in the UK and rapidly gaining momentum in the US. It’s no wonder that the entertainment shopping phenomenon has now gone global.

For instance, there’s BidPax (which was iPennyBid from Canada) in Hong Kong, and Swiraa in Switzerland:

All three penny [...]

iPennybid is Now BidVoo

October 5, 2009

Remember iPennybid? We received a legal threat, many negative comments from unhappy iPennyBid bidders and found out that iPennyBid required scans of bidders driver’s licenses. Now iPennyBid is gone and the offline message reads:

“Due to licensing reasons, iPennyBid.com is no longer available in your country. We will post more information when available.”
Licensing reasons? Please look [...]

Penny Auction Red Flags

September 16, 2009

Strange and dubious practices that have been seen observed recently; such as, Pposh’s testing mode & shill comments, Pardoo’s shill comments to us & their use of DigitalFruit’s (Intelligent Investment Protector (IIP) penny auction software, and iPennyBid requiring scans of bidder’s identification cards and not having items available. Are a few of the entertainment shopping [...]

iPennybid Feedback

September 15, 2009

UPDATE: Another WINNING bidder, the one mentioned below that did not receive their winning item, they were refunded but was still also required to scan in their driver’s license.
iPennyBid is the first and only penny auction site that we have heard of to require a scan of a photo ID.
It looks like iPennybid’s [...]

It’s 2 AM  and guess what? iPennyBid.com has two auctions ending right now and 4 more ending within the next 3 hours, really.
And it looks like many people are up bidding right now too. iPennyBid is not the only auction site with auctions ending right now, PennySold, who by the way, has threatened to take [...]

A reader just told us that they found iPennyBid from an ad on Facebook. (We’re on Facebook btw, click the link to add us!)
(Read our previous posts on iPennyBid: July 31st, August 11th)
The amount of bidders and the user names look pretty suspicious for an auction that’s only been in [...]
